Background
Tang Hao lived in Holy Soul Village as a disheveled, alcohol-reeking drunkard, concealing both his Soul Power and status from outsiders. He attended Tang San’s Martial Soul Awakening and initially mocked the possibility that Tang San might awaken a weak Martial Soul. 3 22
After Mo Lang’s gift of 20,000 Gold Soul Coins drew the attention of robbers led by the Evil Soul Master Tu Yang, Tang Hao personally protected the village. He revealed himself as a Titled Douluo to Mo Lang, then killed Tu Yang and his two companions with thrown stones before leaving their bodies to his guard dogs. 21 22
Before departing Holy Soul Village, Tang Hao left Tang San a letter and visited Yu Xiaogang at Notting Junior Soul Master Academy. He considered himself an inadequate father, but took comfort in Mo Lang’s presence beside Tang San. 22 23
Tang Hao later returned to guide and protect Tang San. He guarded Mo Lang and the others while they consumed immortal herbs, entrusted Tang San’s care to Mo Lang during a journey connected to another world, and eventually resumed personally teaching his son. 47 48 177
Appearance
Tang Hao can pass as an unremarkable village drunkard when suppressing his strength.
- Disheveled hair and a strong smell of alcohol. 22
- Wears a patched “hundred-family robe” while disguised in Holy Soul Village. 22
- Carries a pale golden illuminating gem in his Soul Guidance Device. 239
Personality
Tang Hao is fiercely protective of his family and retains deep guilt over A Yin’s death and the Haotian Sect’s decline. He believes that, if forced to choose again, he would still choose to protect his family despite the consequences for the sect. 196
He is blunt, competitive, and readily provoked into action. He challenged Spirit Hall directly, sought to test himself against Demon Subduing Douluo, and later intercepted three Level 97 Titled Douluo in battle. 165 166 442
Despite his severity, Tang Hao has a gentler side around Tang San and A Yin. He treats the Blue Silver Grass representing A Yin with reverence and wants to make up for the time he lost with his son. 177 239
