Xiao Wu lives in the core region of the Star Dou Great Forest near the Lake of Life, where she is regarded as the forest's “Sister Xiao Wu.” Er Ming, the Titan Giant Ape, is her younger brother. She cares deeply for the Soul Beasts around her, including the dying Emerald Swan Xiao Cui and Xiao Cui's unborn offspring. 40

When Li Chang'an reaches the Lake of Life, Xiao Wu is preparing to enter the human world within roughly a year. Curious and inexperienced about human society, she asks him to describe its food, activities, and customs. She later chooses to follow him into the human world rather than travel alone. 40 41
