The Sky Pit manifested as a massive, perfectly circular toroidal structure suspended over the Pacific Ocean. Its inward-collapsing center was covered by a faint, multicolored membrane, giving it the appearance of a pit or vortex in the sky. 9 47

Background / History

Discovery and First Contact

The Sky Pit appeared over the central Pacific as an unnatural circular anomaly. Initial satellite observations recorded spectral shifts and aurora-like radiance in a location where auroras should not occur. An academic assessment judged it highly likely to be artificial, prompting immediate mobilization by the Great East and the United States. 9

Reconnaissance established its fixed altitude and enormous dimensions, but close approaches revealed severe electromagnetic disruption. A laser experiment conducted from the 815A confirmed that the apparent optical anomalies were caused by gravitational lensing around the structure. 11 12 13

The Sky Pit then underwent a violent internal reaction, emitted a powerful EMP, and released one hundred unidentified aerial targets. These craft attacked nearby naval forces, turning the anomaly from a reconnaissance mystery into the center of an alien conflict. 13

Guarded Alien Bridgehead

After the initial battle, Sentinels maintained a defensive orbit around the Sky Pit and generally returned to it after pursuing targets beyond a limited range. Analysts concluded that their primary mission was to protect the passage. 30 43

The Sky Pit was linked to the alien civilization’s Ascension Ritual. During Liu Jun’s ritual, alien Type 3 and Type 2 craft formed a hexagonal light-screen arena with entrances oriented toward Liu Jun and the Sky Pit. 300

After Liu Jun destroyed the opposing Type 2, he was recognized as having “ascended,” revealing that the alien civilization’s hierarchy and combat traditions were connected to the passage’s surrounding forces and infrastructure. 276 301

Final Offensive and Collapse

After years of conflict, East University launched a campaign-level assault on the Pacific Sky Pit using ballistic missiles, hypersonic weapons, carrier aviation, drones, and naval air-defense fire. 359 360

The strike force passed through the passage to attack the alien world. Liu Jun’s special mission targeted the alien energy facility that supplied and stabilized the Sky Pit. 361 363 364

Following the operation, the Sky Pit’s crystalline ring cracked, collapsed toward the ocean, and shattered. With its containment device gone, the Einstein–Rosen Bridge at its center destabilized and broke apart. 370
