Background / History
The Azure Emperor emerged from a green lotus that regained spiritual intelligence. His Azure Lotus Scripture drew on the orthodox Sky Shrouding Method while incorporating principles associated with older cultivation methods. Its difficulty contributed to the decline of his lineage after his apparent death 124 370.
Rather than die when the world believed he had, he dismembered himself and preserved his primordial spirit within the Desolate Pagoda. He suppressed the pagoda’s deity and opened a small world inside it, hoping to create an immortal realm in the Human World. The attempt did not succeed, and his life force continued to drain 715 716 718.
Zhou Tong later brought Yan Ruyu to meet him. Their discussions of longevity and world creation led the Azure Emperor to reconsider his approach and explore Zhou Tong’s proposed Inner World cultivation system 715 716 717. With his heart reclaimed from Yan Ruyu and an Azure Lotus supplied by Ye Fan, he underwent rebirth 718 719.
