The giant sea beast's meat was finished in a single night, with more than half of it ending up in Ling Donglai's stomach.
After eating all that delicious meat, Ling Donglai finally experienced the joy of being stuffed. His belly bulged, and little currents of electricity occasionally crackled out of him.
"This is bad. After eating sea beast meat, won't I have to find ways to get more every day from now on..." Ling Donglai wiped his mouth and instinctively thought of the ship-pulling sea beast called Momoo that Arlong kept.
After resting for a night, Ling Donglai began cultivating alone on the island and training his Observation Haki.
His fledgling Observation Haki was far too weak to be of any real help in battle.
While training, Ling Donglai also gathered some shipbuilding materials and put together a small boat. Once he modified Jango's keel a little, it would be complete.
After all, he was not aiming for a large ship. He would only take this little boat out after confirming that no other vessels were passing through the area.
Sailing out alone was the last option.
As his training continued, the contours of his muscles became more and more pronounced. Ling Donglai bought a thin white shirt to wear as a top. As everyone knew, white shirts could be see-through, especially the thin version Ling Donglai had bought, which made his massive muscles faintly visible beneath it.
To some young women, this was practically seducing them!
If he went to one of the countries on the Grand Line, with that face and that body, becoming a heartthrob admired by thousands would probably be effortless.
After cultivating on the island for a week, Ling Donglai prepared to head out to sea and have some fun with Arlong, lest that fish-man forget about him.
More importantly, aided by high-energy meat, Ling Donglai had successfully cultivated enough during this period to release 100,000 Volts of bioelectricity. He could also start fires through friction and throw a Fire Fist. Terrifying indeed.
He was already a Pikachu that could Discharge electricity.
With this level of strength, he would have some small degree of presence even on the Grand Line under normal circumstances. In this low-tier East Blue, he could naturally walk sideways like a crab.
This day also happened to be when the villagers went to a nearby town for supplies. Ling Donglai naturally hitched a ride with them, and with an expert like him on board to protect them, the villagers felt much more at ease.
During his time training aboard the ship, Ling Donglai also smoothly brought out his Armament Haki.
Both Armament Haki and Observation Haki lay dormant within everyone's bodies. As long as one could become aware of them and use them, mastering them was easy. For a Human-Human Fruit user, it was as effortless as eating and drinking. Only Conqueror's Haki was an exception, a Haki power that even the Human-Human Fruit could not detect.
It was a power determined entirely by one's luck and natural talent.
"This is... the scent of fish-men..." While training his Haki, Ling Donglai's nose twitched as he caught that familiar salty, fishy smell again.
It was a familiar scent.
"Which village are you from? Why are you out here now..." Ling Donglai cracked open his door and heard a vicious-looking fish-man talking with the ship's leader. Before long, the fish-man jumped back into the sea, and the ship continued sailing as normal.
"Did something happen?" Ling Donglai went outside and asked.
"It seems someone attacked Arlong, the pirate leader of this area. Arlong slaughtered several villages but still failed to find the attacker's body. That has made the fish-men extremely agitated, so they're distributing wanted notices everywhere. They say that anyone who finds that person can claim a reward from Arlong..."
Merika's father, a refined-looking man with glasses, explained to Ling Donglai.
Then he suddenly looked at Ling Donglai, pulled out a pale yellow wanted notice, and did not know whether to laugh or cry.
"I never expected the one who attacked Arlong to be you, our benefactor. When the ship docks later, leave quietly. Arlong's men are searching particularly strictly right now."
"Arlong has that much power? I'm wanted already? Let me see how much I'm worth." Curious, Ling Donglai walked over and looked at his wanted notice.
Arlong was still a cheapskate. It only said that anyone who provided clues could receive Arlong's treasure, while anyone who captured him could ask Arlong to do one thing for them.
The wording was all very vague.
"Arlong's wanted notice is one thing, but the Marines are after you too." Merika's father took out another wanted notice. This one was a Marine warrant.
Marine wanted notices were not issued solely by Marine Headquarters. Each branch had some authority to set bounties, though they certainly could not set them too high. Bounties in the hundreds of millions were issued by headquarters.
"So I've become a wanted pirate?" Ling Donglai looked at the bounty amount. It was only ten million.
"This Marine branch and Arlong are really wearing the same pair of pants."
"Still, it's fine if a bounty like this is only issued in the East Blue." Ling Donglai looked at the branch seal on it and did not care about such a bounty.
He was not a real pirate, nor did he fly a pirate flag. Headquarters would not care about something like this. Only the local branch would.
"Since I'm wanted, I'd better leave first on my own, so I don't bring trouble down on you."
Ling Donglai tossed aside his wanted notice, picked up a log, and prepared to head out to sea alone. The nearby villages were not far from here anyway.
Using the world's number one assassin's method of travel once again, Ling Donglai flew far more steadily this time due to his improved strength. The log sped over the ocean's surface while Ling Donglai stood on it with his arms crossed, letting the sea wind tousle his hair.
The aura of an expert rushed forth.
As he was about to reach shore, something seemed to be swimming beneath the sea.
Two fish-men leaped out of the water. "Die!"
Traveling in such a flashy manner, it would have been strange if the fish-men had not noticed him. It was not as though their eyes and noses were fake.
"You lowly grunts, I'll kill as many of you as you send!"
Ling Donglai struck through the air, flinging out an arc of electricity that landed directly on the fish-men. It shocked them until they were charred outside and tender within, fully cooked before they fell back into the sea.
He flipped through the air and landed on shore, conveniently blocking a sailor's path.
"How many fish-men are in this village? I'll slaughter them all!" Ling Donglai grabbed the sailor by the collar and demanded.
His height of one meter ninety, along with his broad chest muscles, gave him the intimidating presence of a wild beast.
"T-twenty. They usually stay in the nearby Aquatic Park." Overwhelmed by his aura, the sailor answered instinctively.
"So few? That isn't even enough for me to kill!"
After learning the location of the aquarium, Ling Donglai bought a sharp knife before heading over.
The slime on those fish-men was too disgusting. A blade would work better.
