Background / History

Tsunade is the Senju Clan's princess and one of Konoha's Legendary Sannin. Her medical ninjutsu is regarded as unmatched in the Ninja World, and she established the medical-ninja system. She is also renowned for Chakra Enhanced Strength. 91

After leaving Konoha, Tsunade develops enormous gambling debts and travels with Shizune. She bears deep resentment toward Konoha and its leadership, citing the deaths of Nawaki, Dan, Sakumo, and Minato as evidence of the village's darkness. 94

When Naruto and Uchiha Shisui locate her in a Land of Lightning casino, Tsunade accepts Naruto's high-or-low challenge in pursuit of his money. She loses every round, first losing her remaining nine million ryō and then accumulating 750 million ryō in IOUs after accepting further loans. 91 92

Naruto, using the alias Aobird and claiming to be Jiraiya's disciple, seeks her treatment for Shisui's severe old injuries.
