For now, Roy knew of several types of souls.
The first were naturally low-level, or rather, Ordinary Souls, which existed widely within living beings. Depending on a creature's degree of Self-Intelligence and Emotional Richness, the souls born differed in size and Soul Power Value. In the system's applications, these Ordinary Souls were usually used to design and create Static Items, as well as for Roy's own Body Modification. When the Defined Attributes Roy gave an item involved Supernatural Power Rules, the soul consumption increased drastically.
The second type was High-level Souls: Fallen Souls and Noble Souls. From the names alone, it was clear that these two should be souls of equivalent quality. Corrupted Souls were easy to produce, while Noble Souls were comparatively difficult to obtain. Thus, Roy guessed that although both belonged to the same grade of soul, there might be differences in their energy. Noble Souls likely contained more Positive Energy, while Fallen Souls contained more Negative Energy. Of course, this was only a guess. After all, Roy had yet to truly obtain a Noble Soul.
Whether Corrupted Souls or Noble Souls, they were both used by the system to Create Dynamic Derivatives—that was, skills. To the system, both Positive Energy and Negative Energy could be utilized. The only difference might be that if Roy used the wrong type of soul to create a skill, the soul power consumption would increase. For example, if he used a Noble Soul to create his Bloodthirst Technique, the skill might consume an entire Noble Soul outright, instead of leaving some behind as it did with a Fallen Soul.
As for the third type of soul, it was the Sacred Soul Roy had now obtained. If the first two types were divided into low-level and high-level souls, then Sacred Souls should be souls of Super-tier Quality. And judging from the prefix in its name alone, one could imagine that besides Sacred Souls, there might also be Super-tier souls such as Evil Souls. Sacred Souls came from Angels, so Evil Souls should come from High Demons.
Although the one Roy had obtained was only a fragment, it was still a piece stripped from a Super-tier Soul. Apart from having too little Soul Power Value, it was not all that different from a Complete Soul.
But judging by the system's panel functions, after obtaining a High-Quality Soul like a Fallen Soul, most of the system's functions had basically been unlocked. Thus, Roy was very curious about what this Super-tier Soul could be used for, and so he began communicating with the system.
Most of the time, the system was mechanical, the sort that only moved when prompted. If you did not ask it, it would not take the initiative to answer you.
After questioning it carefully, Roy's expression immediately turned strange.
According to the system, Super-tier Souls were extremely precious. Under normal circumstances, if Demons in the Abyss Demon World could contaminate a Sacred Soul they had obtained and erode it with Darkness Power, the soul would ultimately fall, giving birth to a Fallen Angel in the Abyss Demon World.
Fallen Angels were not naturally evolved products of the hellish abyss, but they still belonged to the Abyss World's faction and were also a race of Demons.
Likewise, if an Angel obtained the Evil Soul of a High Demon, purification could similarly cause an Angel to be born within the Angel faction.
Wasn't that fascinating? Angels and Demons could actually transform into each other. That was why Roy wore such a strange expression...
However, if a Demon did not wish to transform a Sacred Soul into a Fallen Angel, it could choose to devour it instead. After devouring a Sacred Soul, the Demon's power would increase enormously, and its Resistance to Sacred Power would be greatly enhanced. Conversely, an Angel could also choose to directly destroy a Demon's Evil Soul, then convert it into pure Holy Power and absorb it.
Although what Roy had obtained was only a Soul Fragment, he could still try going into the Depths of the Abyss and use the dense Darkness and Chaotic Power there to erode it. Due to the special connection between a Soul Fragment and its Soul Main Body, once contaminated, the fragment would also transmit that contamination to the Soul Main Body, possibly causing it to fall as well. The chances would simply be rather small, and it might take an extremely long time.
That was why this Soul Fragment was said to be enormously valuable. If Roy could offer it to those Great Demon Kings, it would be an irresistible temptation for these Rulers of the Abyss World, because it might very well cause the Archangel Gabriel to fall! Adding such formidable Combat Power to the Abyss Faction would be worth trying no matter the cost.
That was the usual way Demons used Sacred Souls, as mentioned earlier. But among the system's functions, there was only one Application Path for it.
That application was to create and make life!
Yes, under normal circumstances, no matter how many low-level or high-level souls Roy held, if he wanted to use the system to draw some Small Fish, Cats, and Dogs, it would be impossible for the system to manifest and exchange them for him. Only Super-tier Souls could possibly achieve that purpose.
Creating life! Roy suddenly felt that the system's stature had risen to an entirely new level!
Ordinary people could create life too, as long as they had sex with someone of the opposite sex. But the system's Create Life did not mean that. It meant life customized by Roy himself!
Not only its appearance, but also its personality and the Power and Ability it could wield could all be freely customized, allowing him to Create Life exactly as he wished!
How was this still a system? This was practically a creator god! Could the system's power really be this incredible!?
Maybe he should start calling it System Dad from today onward?
Roy did not intend to handle this Sacred Soul Fragment according to conventional methods. Offering it to a Great Demon King was completely outside his considerations. Leaving aside whether he could even reach the deeper parts of the abyss, with Demons' unpredictable temperaments, Roy had no way of knowing how a Great Demon King would reward him. He might truly receive a reward, but he might also get nothing at all. Worse still, the Great Demon King might simply poke him to death with one finger, and then there would be no need to give him anything...
So at present, Roy had only two choices. One was to devour the Soul Fragment in exchange for Strength Improvement and improved Resistance to Sacred Power. The other was to use it to make a living creature.
Roy hesitated between the two choices. Originally, the first option was the better one, but Roy also somewhat wanted the second.
Customized Life was, needless to say, like the pets or mounts given to players in games. To be honest, Roy had spent nearly half a year in this Abyss World. Every day consisted of endless slaughter, Harvesting Souls to strengthen himself, and he did not even have anyone he could talk to. Even when summoned to other worlds, those humans could never regard him as one of their own. Thus, the loneliness in Roy's heart was truly unimaginable.
If he could create a Little Pet to keep him company, perhaps it could ease some of his loneliness.
After returning to his nest, Roy finally made his decision.
As for power and Resistance to Sacred Power, with System Dad around and plenty of souls as a foundation, he could improve them later. It would be better to first use it to customize a pet or mount.
Besides, who said pets and mounts could not bring improvement? They could help Roy fight as well!
Thus, Roy opened the System Interface again and began drawing.
What kind of pet should he get? As Roy thought, his hand unconsciously drew the outline of a dog...
