The sky was dim, the land beneath his feet was parched, and the air reeked of decay. This was Roy's first impression of Mardum Prison.
This was a dimensional space carved out by Sargeras alone. It existed independently of any world, suspended in the gap between the void and reality. There was no exit, nor any loophole to exploit. A solitary, massive continent floated in the darkness, surrounded by neither sun nor moon, nor any celestial body. Upon this island-like land were imprisoned all the Twisting Nether demons Sargeras had cast inside.
Darkness did not impair a demon's vision. After entering, Roy floated above the land and observed the demons below. Their sheer number was horrifying. After all, this was the result of Sargeras's centuries, perhaps even millennia, of warfare in the Twisting Nether. Over such an immense span of time, the demons imprisoned by Sargeras had to number in the hundreds of millions at the very least.
So many Twisting Nether demons had been crammed onto this land that, no matter how enormous or vast it was, there was still too little ground for too many demons. The demons of the Twisting Nether had not died at Sargeras's hands, yet they frequently slaughtered one another in Mardum Prison for living space. The victors devoured the flesh and blood of the defeated, while the defeated could no longer be reborn in the Twisting Nether. Once they died, they were truly dead.
Watching the scenes of demons slaughtering each other below, Roy felt no ripple in his heart. He even found it somewhat familiar. Wasn't this just a replay of the Abyss back home?
Demons tainted by void energy and evolved with Fel were usually insane and irrational. The lower their rank, the crazier they tended to be. Not long after
