Flying high above Pandaria, Roy saw the miserable state of the land below.
Countless mountain peaks had been smashed apart by objects that had fallen from the sky. These so-called fallen objects were chunks of flesh weighing millions of tons—the body of Y'Shaarj, the Old God personally slain by Aman'Thul, Father of the Gods. At the moment of its death, Y'Shaarj's body had been torn into thousands of fragments of varying sizes. As these fragments plummeted from the sky, their unimaginable weight and force wrought immense devastation across the southern lands of Kalimdor. They shattered mountain ranges, filled lakes, corrupted forests, and triggered repeated earthquakes like Earth-Shattering Magic.
The flesh fragments were scattered across nearly all of Pandaria. Y'Shaarj's head in particular, upon striking the ground and before finally dying, expelled all its energy in a burst of resentment, forming an ultimate sha energy invisible to the naked eye that began spreading throughout Pandaria.
Just as Roy had imagined, the point in time he had arrived at after this time jump was shortly after the Old Gods had been imprisoned—at most only a few decades later. Even the fragments of the dead Y'Shaarj scattered across the earth were still quite fresh.
This historical event was known in Azeroth's history as the Fall of the Black Empire. It referred to the massive war between the Titan-forged created by the Pantheon Titans and the Old Gods, along with the elemental beings under their control. This enormous conflict swept across all of Azeroth, ultimately ending with Y'Shaarj slain by Aman'Thul, the remaining Old Gods imprisoned, and the Elemental Lords isolated.
Realizing this, Roy felt somewhat frustrated. The Black Empire had only just fallen, and the war had only just ended. What exactly had the time turbulence brought him here for?
