Roy figured that when Sargeras had tempted Azshara, he had probably used the same old routine he had used on the Eredar: presenting himself as righteous and glorious, invincible in power, mixing deception with coercion and temptation. That sort of trick usually worked quite well. Not just Sargeras—even ordinary demons relied on it. Hadn't the Eredar obediently taken the bait?
But Sargeras seemed to have forgotten one thing: the Eredar's three leaders at the time... had all been male! So there had been no problem with that approach.
Azshara, however, was not only female, but a female whose ego had swelled to its limits amid the endless flattery of countless Night Elves. That extreme vanity had filled her heart with pride. In her eyes, no man in the entire Night Elf Empire was worthy of becoming her partner. Her standards for choosing a mate had risen to an absurd level.
Yet Sargeras had appeared at precisely that time. After a few exchanges, Azshara had completely lost herself.
In Azshara's eyes, Sargeras, who communicated with her in the sea of spiritual consciousness, was young (among the Star-Soul Titans, Sargeras was considered a young adult), wealthy (he had countless planets where he could mine gold), successful in his career (the Burning Crusade), and possessed both strength and authority (the Burning Legion's supreme Ruler). Other than the matter of race, Sargeras was practically Azshara's perfect mate...
Of course, perhaps race was not really a problem either...
So after meeting Sargeras, Azshara could not stop letting her imagination run wild. The woman had always possessed enormous ambition. Once she imagined marrying Sargeras and becoming his wife, not only satisfying her inner vanity but also becoming a Ruler of the Burning Legion as it swept across the universe, Azshara could no longer restrain herself.
Now
