History

The Kree built an empire spanning ten galaxies and fought wars across the cosmos. To replace fallen warriors, they conducted genetic experiments on other worlds, including Earth. Their experiments created the Inhumans: descendants carrying recessive modified genes that a Terrigen Crystal can activate. The Kree also created Hive to rule the Inhumans on their behalf. Internal conflict ended the Earth project, and the Kree withdrew 50 68.

A Kree warrior later came to Earth to claim Skye as a product of those experiments. Michael, the Black Knight, defeated him and prevented her capture. Michael subsequently erased the warrior’s knowledge of Earth and the experiments 57 58 59.

Appearance

Kree soldiers encountered on Earth commonly have blue skin and wear armor. At least some Kree, including Mai-Char, have lighter complexions closer to a human’s 108 559.

• Physical resilience — An ordinary police bullet bounced off one soldier’s body during the New York invasion 108.
• Military dress — In New York, soldiers wore black armor and carried energy guns alongside blades or axes. Officers and later assault troops wore white armor 108 568.

Technology and Warfare

Genetic engineering and crystal energy

• Kree genetic modification created the Inhumans; Terrigen Crystals from the Kree homeworld activate their inherited abilities 50.
• Kree crystal energy powers protective fields and military equipment, including the armor used by troops in the later assault on Earth 113 568.

Fleets and weapons

• Kree forces deploy warships, fighters and heavily armed soldiers. Their military favors fleet firepower over individual combat, though warriors such as Ronan are exceptional 108 587.
• Vanguard robots scout potential invasion targets and assess their defenses. Each carries weapons and a bomb powerful enough to flatten several cities if detonated 99.
• Kree warships use particle shields, heavy cannons, space-warp engines and quantum transmission technology capable of moving teams between ships 317 570 577.
• Stealth warriors can conceal themselves and jam trackers, but ultraviolet frequencies reveal their disguise 577.

Government

The Supreme Intelligence is a living computer that rules the Kree Empire and governs its civilization. Senior military leaders receive its orders directly; when some questioned its plan for the Solar System, it overruled their concerns 559 560 588.

• Ronan the Accuser — Led the first invasion of Earth and was killed by the Black Knight aboard his mothership 101 117.
• Oz — Rose to prominence in the Accuser Corps after Ronan’s death and joined the later campaign against Earth; he was killed during its failure 559 587.
• Mar-Vell — A Kree scientist who opposed the invasion and fought alongside Earth’s defenders 101 111.

Major Conflicts

• First invasion of Earth — Ronan’s forces attacked New York and demanded Earth’s surrender. Earth’s defenders resisted, the Black Knight defeated Ronan, and Sky Sword took possession of his mothership. Captured Kree soldiers were detained 108 117 118 119.
• Solar System campaign — The Supreme Intelligence ordered a renewed operation after Ronan’s defeat. Kree fleets attacked Earth while other forces began constructing a wormhole near the sun. Earth and its Skrull allies defeated the assault; Oz fell, and the surviving Kree personnel withdrew 560 567 578 587.
• Homeworld confrontation — The Black Knight and Wanda reached the Kree homeworld and breached the base housing the Supreme Intelligence. Rather than immediately fighting, it opened a negotiation with them 588 591.
• Battle against Thanos’s fleet — Kree and Skrull fleets later coordinated a pincer attack in support of Earth, despite their longstanding rivalry 615 616.
