Early life

Victor Von Doom was born into a Gypsy family in Latveria, a war-torn Eastern European nation plagued by crime and conflict. He possesses an extraordinary memory that he claims reaches back to the womb; Doom believes his premature consciousness may have resulted from his mother Cynthia's dealings with demons. 270

As a child, Doom used inventions of his own design to lead his tribe against the Baron who oppressed them. During a later pursuit by soldiers, Doom's father died protecting him from freezing on a snowy mountain. 71 270

Cynthia had made a pact with Mephisto to protect her people, leaving her soul imprisoned in Hell. Rescuing her became Doom's central personal objective, driving him to study both advanced science and magic. 72
