Background / History

Primeval Lord of Heaven is one of the Three Pure Ones, positioned between his elder brother Laozi and younger brother Sect Master Tongtian. He values the Three Pure Ones' dignity, but his condescending treatment of Tongtian repeatedly strains their brotherhood. 678

As Chanjiao's Saint leader, he is deeply protective of his sect's authority and his own reputation. Hun Xiu's killing of his twelve Immortal Cranes provokes him into personally striking Tongtian's disciple with the Furious Palm Strike, despite Tongtian's intervention. 675 677

During the Investiture of the Gods Tribulation, Chanjiao suffers escalating losses: Daoist Randeng is sent to the Investiture of the Gods List, Mount Kunlun is attacked, and the Jade Void Palace is destroyed. The chaos of heavenly secrets prevents Primeval Lord of Heaven from identifying the culprit through divination, intensifying his anger and frustration. 695 697 698

He eventually identifies Hun Xiu as the destroyer of his dojo, but Tongtian openly shields his disciple. Primeval Lord of Heaven abandons a direct confrontation after recognizing that Tongtian's Four Immortal Slaying Swords would leave him at a disadvantage. 724 725

Later, a Hun Xiu clone enters Chanjiao as its Vice Sect Master. Primeval Lord of Heaven accepts and protects this apparent recruit, unaware that the clone is connected to Tongtian's disciple. The clone ultimately conspires with Daoist Jieyin to devastate Chanjiao, sending its disciples to the Investiture of the Gods List. 750 751 792

Personality

Primeval Lord of Heaven is proud, status-conscious, and highly sensitive to humiliation. The destruction of the Jade Void Palace is not merely a strategic loss to him; it is a personal affront to a Saint's dignity. 697 698

He regularly dismisses Hun Xiu as a worthless cultivator with no Saint potential, while treating Tongtian as an insubordinate younger brother. 697 702 His arrogance can give way to caution when faced with superior leverage: he avoids Tongtian's Immortal Slaying Sword Formation and seeks alliances when Chanjiao's losses become too severe to manage alone. 724 742

Despite his pride, he can be pragmatic. He compromises with the Western Sect to investigate Chanjiao's attacker and relies on Tongtian's aid when Nuwa suppresses him with the Pangu Banner. 738 805
