Snow Empress spent hundreds of thousands of years alone before meeting Xiao Bai, whom she adopted, and accepting Ice Empress as her younger sister. She rules from an immense palace made entirely of ice, situated where the Extreme North’s spiritual energy converges 141 143 176.

As her 700,000-year tribulation approached, Ice Empress repeatedly brought handsome human men to the palace to help her discover romantic love. Snow Empress remained uninterested. Rejected candidates stayed as servants by choice, attracted by the sisters’ beauty and the palace’s comfortable living conditions; Snow Empress complained that feeding them was exhausting Xiao Bai 141.

Meeting Chi Xiu

Chi Xiu and Bibi Dong arrived with Ice Empress’s latest group of captured villagers. Snow Empress noticed that Chi Xiu’s darkened face did not match his white hands. She initially supported her sister’s attempt to keep Bibi Dong, sealing the palace gates with a violent snowstorm 141 142.

Watching Bibi Dong’s affection for Chi Xiu gave Snow Empress her first clearer understanding of romantic attachment. She released the pair, explaining that she should not separate people who already belonged together, and resolved to face both tribulations 143 144.

Inside the illusion, she became the human daughter of the Xue Family under the name Wu Yang. Her father organized a martial marriage contest and had her restrained when she refused to participate.
