A passage slanting downward as a whole appeared before the three of them.
A faint, damp, moldy smell rushed toward them from the cold, dark space.
This passage had clearly not yet been completed. Its surrounding surfaces were uneven and pitted, with no time having been spent on finishing them.
The stairs extending downward from the entrance were also made of simple concrete, uneven and pitted. Beside them was a long temporary ramp, seemingly intended for tracked construction robots.
"Where does this passage lead?"
At this moment, Hel also walked up beside He Ao and asked in confusion.
"We'll know once we go down and take a look."
He Ao spoke slowly. He turned to look at the two behind him. "Do you have flashlights?"
"Yes."
Hel quickly nodded and handed over a spare flashlight.
The second basement level of this underground parking garage was rarely used and had not been renovated for many years, so quite a few lights had broken, leaving dark areas. Naturally, they had brought flashlights for this exploration.
He Ao switched on the flashlight, illuminating the damp, chilly passage ahead, and slowly made his way downward along the poorly constructed stairs.
He raised the flashlight and shone it around the passage.
Lights and wiring had been installed in this passage, but they had not been connected to the main power supply, so they were unusable.
Clearly, this passage had not been completed.
The only question was whether the main structure had been connected through.
Their hollow footsteps echoed through the cold, silent passage, reverberating through the enclosed space and striking at the hearts of all three.
Hel and the other agent followed behind, carefully sweeping their flashlights over the passage around them, trying not to miss a single blind spot.
