Listening to the faint yet intense gunfire in the air, Weiken, standing at the elevator entrance, fanned away the dust and moldy smell blowing into his face.
He glanced at the dark, empty underground parking garage, then turned his gaze to the Red-Haired Man holding a flashlight ahead of him. "Why not take me directly to the first floor? Those Security Forces are on the first floor now, aren't they?"
"If you think your idiot Security Forces can beat the City Defense Army and the building's security system, I can take you to the first floor."
The Red-Haired Man shrugged with a smile.
"But first, you'll have to give me the account number and password for one of your anonymous accounts. There has to be at least ten million Federal currency in it. Don't tell me you don't have one. I made this trip with great effort—I have to earn something, don't I? I can't exactly collect money from a dead man."
Hearing this, Weiken fell silent for a moment. Then he raised his head, looking at the darkness around him, and asked quietly, "You'll get the money you want. But I want to know why you brought me here."
"I naturally have my reasons for bringing you here."
The Red-Haired Man shook his head and pulled a folded gas mask from his coat.
"Sot bypassed our surveillance and appeared directly outside my building."
Weiken looked at the Red-Haired Man. "The Federal Bureau of Investigation Building has another exit route?"
The Red-Haired Man did not answer. Instead, he unfolded the gas mask in his hand and handed it to Weiken. "Put it on."
