Pitch-black clouds gathered above the enormous canyon, circling the Floating Fighter that continuously fired Laser Cannons.
"Caw—"
A piercing cry rang out from within the black clouds, followed by a dense, thunderous roar.
Boom—
A bird with a slender, nearly meter-long black iron beak dove from the sky like a cannonball, slipping through the gaps between the dense Laser Cannon fire and slamming into the Floating Fighter's hull.
The sturdy shell was instantly pierced through, leaking crackling arcs of electricity.
A Laser Cannon shot out in an instant, piercing and scorching the black giant bird.
But the Floating Fighter seemed to have lost part of its control because of it, tilting to one side.
"Captain, the left-side power system is damaged! It won't hold for long!" A young, panicked voice rang out inside the Floating Fighter. "Communications have been completely affected. We can't even send out a distress signal."
"Where the hell did these Iron Beak Birds come from?" Another voice followed. "The Floating Fighter is starting to lose control. Our air-defense system is about to be completely breached."
"Emergency landing." A voice suppressing its emotions immediately rang through the cramped space. "Emergency landing, now."
"This is Slokes Grand Canyon. Where are we supposed to land?!" A voice cracked as it spoke.
"To the left. There's a rock over there. We're heading for it." The restrained voice rang out again, shouting rapidly, "Tilt the fighter over there!!!"
The Floating Fighter, flickering with electric arcs, began to tilt as it drifted toward a rock jutting from the nearby cliff.
The black cloud of giant birds surrounding the Floating Fighter grew even more vicious at the sight.
Their attacks became faster and more frequent. Some even charged directly into the Laser Cannon fire without regard for their lives.
