Flowers on the Plains
The wilderness outside Dawn City.
The man in military uniform lowered his gaze, looking at the palace before him that had already been reduced to shattered ruins, at the densely packed animal corpses strewn across the ground, and at the few staggering figures standing among the bodies. Calmly, he said, "Well? Did you achieve your goal?"
"Ulens," the leader among the figures pressed a hand to his chest, wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, and raised his eyes to look at the man in military uniform. "Your injuries aren't any better than ours. Why force yourself to hold on here?"
"I'm standing here not to force myself to hold on," the man in military uniform said calmly, sweeping his gaze over the people before him. "I'm only telling you that I still have strength to spare."
He raised his hand. Pinpoints of red radiance gathered in his palm, and the surrounding space curled like waves, faintly revealing the blurred world beneath those ripples.
"The Underworld has already returned. Large-scale deaths in war will no longer cause disasters of the undead," one of the standing figures lifted his head and looked at the man in military uniform. "Ulens, we admit you are very strong, but we hope you can abide by the common agreement between angels and not participate in wars between the Federation's city-states. Otherwise, no matter how strong you are, you won't be able to withstand all of us attacking together."
"I can do that," the man in military uniform said calmly, withdrawing his hand as he looked at the figures. In a low voice, he asked, "Can you?"
The figures exchanged glances. "Of course we can do it too. We will also restrain the others from doing so."
