"He really was from Keskaine," the bespectacled young man chimed in. "He went to the same high school as us. I heard that after he became vice president, the principal even had a statue of him put up in the most prominent spot on campus."

"We've got someone that famous from around here? From the old district, too?" The blond young man blinked. "Do you think if we went to him and said we were from the same hometown, he might take us in?"

"Wake up," the young man in work clothes spat. "He's one of the masters now. He's not like us."

"I passed near his house last time," the bespectacled young man nodded. "Plainclothes agents questioned me several times."

"Is that so?" The blond young man pursed his lips. "That guy's really got no sense of loyalty."

"You're not even related to him. What loyalty does he owe you?" the short, stocky young man sneered.

"I'd advise you not to think too much about going over there," the young man in work clothes said as he ate a fried bean. "The recruitment drive at my last factory was started when he was a senator."

"You mean the one that paid below average and worked people half to death?" the bespectacled young man cut in.

"Yeah." The young man in work clothes nodded. He pulled out an electronic lighter, then patted himself down as if looking for cigarettes, but found none.

"To be honest," said the young man in casual clothes, "I really hope Christos comes over here."

"I heard Christos's people eat people and kill without batting an eye," the blond young man said quietly as he looked at the casually dressed youth. "You really want them to come?"

"Those are just rumors, aren't they?" the bespectacled young
