"This is footage extracted from Nuokang's memory chip. This incident happened five days ago. At that time, Nuokang and the others were not far from Dawn City. Even on foot, Mu Xiu should have already arrived in Dawn City."
Smith switched the projection back to Mu Xiu's photo page.
"Were there any photos of Mu Xiu captured at the city entrance?"
Selina immediately asked.
"You know, those cameras are managed by the City Defense Force. I've already sent a warning to the city hall. They will retrieve the surveillance footage from the city entrance cameras, but don't have too much hope. Mu Xiu has previously disguised himself as others to sneak into the city. He is a favored one of the God of Chaos, so we can't be careless." Smith nodded.
"I've already notified the consortium. They will open up some surveillance footage to the technical division for analysis to see if they can find any trace of Mu Xiu."
After mentioning the consortium, Selina's expression clearly darkened, but she didn't dwell on the issue. Instead, she asked, "So, what do you need us to do?"
"There are always some places in this city that 'don't have' surveillance," Smith tapped the table, and a stack of photos appeared on the projection.
"Casinos, red-light districts, and some underground boxing rings. Based on previous cases, Mu Xiu has gone on killing sprees in these places. The Criminal Investigation Division has already deployed personnel in most areas, but there is one crucial place where there aren't enough people."
The projection on the wall instantly changed, showing a magnificent golden gate with a dazzling sign that read 'Crown Casino'.
"The Crown Casino is the largest casino in Dawn City. The technical department analyzed Mu Xiu's past movements and believes this is the most likely place he would go this time. The people from the Criminal Investigation Division are too weak for Mu Xiu, so I hope to entrust this task to you. How about it?"
Smith looked at Selina.
"Okay," Selina stood up. "So our mission is to guard the entrance of the Crown Casino? How long do we guard?"
"He usually commits crimes within seven days of entering a city. After he kills and sacrifices to the God of Chaos, he will receive the God of Chaos's favor and instantly escape to the Wilderness. So we must catch him or kill him before he commits the crime."
Smith replied.
"Okay, I understand," Selina waved at the bewildered He Ao. "Ander, let's go."
"Mu Xiu is Talent Sequence 51: Thug, a D-class expert. Do you think Selina can stop him? Her prosthetic body strength is only barely close to D-class, right?"
After Selina and He Ao left, the projection on the wall turned into Weina, who was holding a cigarette in his mouth. He was leaning against a closed door, holding a revolver in his hand, seemingly on a mission.
Just as Smith was about to answer, Weina suddenly slammed into the door behind him.
"Open the door, Federal Bureau of Investigation."
With a bang, the door was directly knocked open.
The people inside seemed to realize something was wrong and were about to draw their guns and shoot. Weina directly raised his revolver and fired six shots, followed by the sound of bodies falling to the ground.
"Boss?" A voice came from outside the camera. "Just killed them?"
"Damn it," Weina frowned. "What do you mean 'just killed them'? Didn't you see them resisting violently? Didn't you see them raising their guns? If they raised their guns, I could have been shot dead.
These cross-city gangsters who commit all sorts of evil and kill without batting an eye, if you don't kill them, are you going to wait for them to live comfortably in prison for a few years and then come out to harm people again?"
"Come, I'll teach you how to write a report," he said, walking out of the camera's view. "During this mission, the gangsters resisted fiercely and refused to surrender despite our investigators' patient persuasion. We were forced to retaliate and killed six people on the spot, with no survivors."
He cursed as he spoke, "What kind of broken laws did those dog-faced council lords make? There isn't even a death penalty..."
As Weina's cursing grew fainter, Smith cut off the communication, leaned back in his chair, and looked at the clean white wall, lost in thought.
Why would Mu Xiu suddenly come to Dawn City...
In the elevator, Selina didn't press the button for the ground floor. Instead, she pressed the button for the fifth basement level.
"Selina, the Desire Witch is?"
He Ao stood behind Selina and asked curiously. He had only half-understood what Selina and Smith were discussing earlier and hadn't dared to interrupt.
"An Evil God. The God of Chaos is also one, and so is the God of Knowledge. These are all Evil Gods."
Selina answered casually, "Most of them are fallen and insane, and they will lure ordinary people to become their pawns."
"Evil Gods? Are there True Gods then?"
He Ao pressed on. He had wanted to ask this question for a long time.
Selina looked at He Ao in surprise. Evil exists relative to good; it's a subjective term. If there are Evil Gods, there should be corresponding True Gods, but few people can grasp this.
He Ao's question was actually, since there are Evil Gods who can communicate with people, are there True Gods who can communicate with people?
Just then, the elevator arrived. Selina stepped out. The fifth basement level was a huge underground parking garage. "No. Or perhaps our level hasn't reached them yet."
She gently raised her hand, and a soft sound echoed in the darkness. Then, with the roar of an engine, a fiery red convertible sports car, as if driven by flames, stopped in front of them.
"Ready?" Selina opened the car door and sat in the driver's seat. "Want to go for a spin with me?"
And so, this scene appeared in Dawn City: a cold and beautiful blonde older sister, with a tall young man in combat gear, speeding through the city streets in a roaring sports car.
He Ao only felt the world spin before the car stopped.
"We're here."
Selina got out of the car and stretched comfortably.
"Won't you get a speeding ticket like this?"
He Ao felt like the ground was still shaking.
"It's fine. I only drove on the highways, right at the maximum speed limit. I won't get a ticket."
After a lap, Selina was beaming, having enjoyed a comfortable stretch.
Her entire body was cybernetic; even if the car flipped, she could lift it without a scratch, so she wasn't worried about speeding at all.
He Ao stumbled out of the car, feeling like his feet were stepping on cotton.
Selina looked at He Ao's appearance and smiled slyly. Everyone has a bit of a mischievous side.
She pointed to a hot dog stand by the street. "Let's go. You haven't eaten since you were discharged from the hospital. I'll treat you to a hot dog."
He Ao was still unsteady on his feet, so she directly took his hand, and they wobbled over to the queue.
It took a while for He Ao to recover.
Ander's body was still weak; he even got carsick.
He shook his head, calming himself down, taking a few deep breaths, and settling his mind.
It was on his fifth deep breath that he felt a slight abnormality in his body.
In his chest cavity, a faint energy appeared again.
