Inside the Tower

As the speeding train vanished into the void, He Ao looked up at the space above him.

That angel had not followed him in. It seemed the thing inside the tower really was quite dangerous.

Ordinary B-rank monsters and superhumans could not detect it, but an A-rank angel seemed able to keenly sense the difference.

He Ao withdrew his gaze and looked ahead.

He was now standing before a tightly shut metal door. Beyond it was the tower's Core Control Room.

The area around the door was covered in dried, splattered blood. A small portion appeared to be human bloodstains, likely left behind during He Ao's battle on his previous visit. Most of the rest appeared to have come from some enormous monster, likely the B-rank Big Octopus that had chased him before.

Last time, he had used the B-rank Big Octopus's power to drive away the monster that had "tricked" him inside while disguised as "Liu Nan."

At the same time, he had used the metal door to sever several tentacles that had been pursuing him. This blood had likely been left behind then.

The Big Octopus could not sense the tower's threat, but it was too large to squeeze inside. Thus, until He Ao left the tower through the hidden passage last time, the Big Octopus had remained at the tower entrance waiting for him.

Judging by the time conversion, nearly a year should have passed in the ruins since He Ao last left. He wondered whether the Big Octopus was still guarding the tower entrance.

This time, however, He Ao had not encountered that monster capable of disguising itself as others. He did not know where it had gone, but given the Big Octopus's ferocity, escaping from it would likely have cost the monster
