By the twenty-first century, castles had become children's toys and vessels for adult fantasies in theme parks.

Pointed towers, soaring walls, moats full of monsters—beyond the castle gates lay a strange world of fantasy. They drew visitors inside for banquets and balls in ancient halls.

But castles had originally been built for military purposes. With the development of firearms, stone walls could no longer serve a defensive role; cannon shells were far more powerful than catapults. That was when castles began transforming into palaces.

Yet when one's opponents were still in the age of cold weapons, a sturdy fortress was undoubtedly a great help to the defenders. The Big-Headed Hairy Monsters had the advantage in numbers, but they could not make siege equipment.

After burning away the vines growing over the maze walls, they could no longer climb over them and could only advance through the gaps between the mazes. Pomona could not possibly set traps everywhere throughout the maze in such a short time, so she could only place layer upon layer of obstacles along the correct route.

Fire truly was a weapon of war. Pomona dearly wished she could cast Fire God Clears the Way like Albus and drive away all these annoying little monsters, but the problem was that she did not know how.

There were quite a few statues on the third floor. If they could turn into gargoyles, they would be a great help too, but Albus had not taught her that either.
