"I've never heard of any Dark Lord. What is he?" Sun Gold asked.

"Not it—him. He's a human," Pomona said. "He can drain your power."

"That's impossible." Sun Gold spun with confidence. "How could insignificant humans steal my power?"

"How many years have you been trapped in this place?" Pomona asked.

"What does that have to do with you?" Sun Gold said resentfully.

"You have no idea how quickly the outside world has changed. Do you think humans today are still as weak as they once were?" Pomona said with outward confidence, though she was actually uneasy.

She did not have Grindelwald's ability to show Sun Gold footage of an atomic bomb explosion.

"We're letting you out to deal with him," Severus added at that moment. "But as you are now, you're no match for him."

"What a joke!" Sun Gold began spinning rapidly. "How could I possibly be no match for a human?"

"People today no longer believe in gods. Once you're free, you can ask anyone you like," Severus said flatly. "But be careful. The Dark Lord is already very powerful. If he drains your power too, he'll become even harder to defeat."

Now it was Sun Gold's turn to panic. Its "heartbeat" visibly accelerated.

"I've never heard of the Dark Lord," Sun Gold repeated once more.

"Both Lynx and phosphorus were discovered by humans only at the end of the seventeenth century, but whether it was the stars in the sky or the phosphorus in the human body, they had always existed. They did not cease to exist because humans had not discovered them. There are simply things you do not know," Pomona said. "Where there is light, there is darkness. How much do you know about darkness, Kull?"

"You know who I am?" Sun Gold asked.
