"Take this." Kemilian shoved a piece of parchment covered in strange symbols into Pomona and Severus's hands.

Pomona recognized the symbol, and so did Severus, the Order of the Phoenix spy. It was Albus Dumbledore's mark, representing a safe house.

"I thought Albus and Nicolas Flamel were both dead." Pomona took the card-like object, memorized the address on it, then passed it to Severus.

"After the original Secret-Keeper of a Fidelius Charm dies, everyone who knows the location automatically becomes a Secret-Keeper. You didn't know that?" Kemilian eyed Pomona suspiciously.

"This is an address in Paris," Severus said. "Did you meet Nicolas Flamel in Paris?"

"When my teacher was preparing to move to Britain, the things stored in the old house had to be moved. I learned about this place while helping with that." Kemilian took the parchment from Severus's hand and slipped it into her trouser pocket. "Try to remember what you just saw."

Before long, she found Nicolas Flamel's home—a house no different from Number Three Montmorency Street next door, like its twin. Except there was no blackboard with a menu written on it in the window, and the door and windows were crooked, like The Burrow. It looked as though it would collapse the moment its magic disappeared.

"Get inside," Kemilian said. "It isn't safe here."

Pomona and Severus said nothing. They followed Kemilian toward the crooked wooden door, which, unlike the one next door, had not been painted yellow.

They entered a dimly lit entryway, where the smell of dust and long abandonment hit them at once.

"You said this place wasn't safe." Once the door had closed, Severus asked, "What did you mean?"

"Neither Muggles nor wizards truly believe my teacher is dead," Kemilian said. "Four hundred years after his death, he returned to Paris,
