Europe's summer brought more than heat waves; there was also football, music festivals, and ice-cold beer.
Pomona had assumed Victoria Park would be peaceful at this hour, its lawns filled with sunbathing adults and running children. But when she arrived, she found the place packed with young people dressed in Gothic and Bohemian styles, with Mohawks everywhere.
More remarkably, she found a classical orchestra there... Since the late nineteenth century, Victoria Park had hosted The Proms, established by Queen Victoria in memory of her late husband, Prince Albert. Its main venue was usually the Royal Albert Hall.
In short, the place had turned into something like a country club. One corner of the park had even been turned into a food market, selling barbecue, Indian curry wraps, and other foods to provide concertgoers with the calories they needed.
Naturally, people did not sit still at a rock concert as they did at a classical performance. Back at The Beatles' concerts, quite a few fans had fainted during the shows, let alone at today's even more explosive rock venues.
Pomona looked at the sandwiches in her basket and felt that, like the musicians struggling to carry their cellos, she had come to the wrong place.
She looked at Severus again. He seemed quite happy, despite always wearing such a stiff expression at school.
"I remember the full moon passed ages ago," Pomona said.
Even if the Werewolf had left behind any traces, this scene had ruined them.
"There's no need to investigate on the night of the full moon." He smiled politely. "Besides, if we hadn't come, we'd never know what we might find."
She thought that was entirely his excuse.
But since they were already here, she could not be bothered to say anything.
