The Grey Lady could sometimes be seen in the Gryffindor common room.

Godric Gryffindor was said to be a highly learned man, while the Grey Lady, as Ravenclaw's daughter, was exceptionally studious. She sometimes appeared in other classes as well. Since she was always so quiet, no one ever threw her out of the classroom.

"No!" Pomona cautiously refused the Fat Friar's request.

"What is the reason this time?" the Fat Friar asked patiently, as though he had grown used to it.

"Last Halloween—I mean, Nearly Headless Nick's deathday—what did not inviting Peeves have to do with the kitchen? Yet Peeves went and made a huge mess there." Pomona said unhappily. "I do not know who agreed to let him into the kitchen, but I will not be the first Head of House to agree to let Peeves near the Great Hall."

"He was only protesting, Head of House," the Fat Friar said helplessly.

"The food of the living should not be wasted by the dead." Pomona accused him. "That was such a huge pot of soup—enough for the entire school."

"I do not want Peeves attending the start-of-term feast either," a student helping out said as they passed by.

The others showed the same disapproval.

"Then what about the Werewolf?" the Fat Friar said quietly to Pomona. "Will you tell them that a Werewolf is going to become their professor?"

Pomona shook her head, refusing to answer.

Inviting Remus to teach Defense Against the Dark Arts had been Dumbledore's decision. Dumbledore would also bear the risk once the news leaked. She was merely following orders.
