"Was the Quen Sign very simple? Have you learned it?"

With a sweep of his right hand, Vesemir casually dispelled the film of light covering his body and asked.

The moment Vesemir finished speaking,

the apprentices' complaints rose one after another.

Huus complained, "How could it be that fast? I haven't even found where the Mutated Organ is yet."

Fred and Bont chimed in as well.

Though they were a little better off than Huus, they had only just found their Mutated Organs.

How could anyone possibly master a Sign so quickly?

"Hahaha, then you need to work harder."

"Among the apprentices I've taught, plenty learned a Sign within a single day."

"If you can learn Quen within a day, then I'll..."

Vesemir was just about to make a promise when he suddenly remembered that one apprentice had yet to speak.

So he quickly cut himself off and casually asked, "Ailin, have you learned it?"

Ailin answered without hesitation, "I have."

He did not intend to hide his talent anymore.

Last night, he had thought long and hard about how to leave the castle and hunt drowners.

In the end, he had only come up with one path—Vesemir.

Tomorrow was Monster Economics and practical training again. Vesemir would definitely be leaving Kaer Morhen today.

"You really learned it?" Vesemir adjusted his hat in disbelief.

Ailin said nothing.

Following the knowledge in his mind, he bent his thumb and little finger, pressed his middle and ring fingers together to form a Sign, and drew a triangle before him.

A flash of yellow light, nearly imperceptible to the naked eye, flickered past.

For a moment, the area fell silent.

Huus instinctively copied Ailin's movements, curling his fingers into the Sign.

Nothing happened.

Awkwardly withdrawing his right hand, Huus glanced to either side. Once he saw that no one was paying attention to him, he breathed a sigh of relief.

Relief, envy, sadness...

All kinds of emotions flooded into his little head.

The movements are obviously so simple. Why can't I do it when it's my turn? Huus thought.

In the end, he could not resist shouting in admiration:

"Ailin, you're amazing!!!"

Huus's voice snapped the others out of their petrified state as well.

"Ailin, how did you do it? Hurry and teach me." Fred asked eagerly.

Bont chimed in too, staring at Ailin with anticipation written all over his face.

Ailin was somewhat speechless.

The teacher was standing right in front of them, and they wanted him to teach them?

Wouldn't that be stealing Vesemir's thunder?

Vesemir did not think that much about it.

After observing for a moment, he extended his index finger and poked at Ailin's nearly transparent Quen Shield.

With a pop, the translucent shield held for only a moment before shattering.

"Although the shield's strength is still weak, the magic power is evenly distributed, and the casting speed isn't slow either." Vesemir gave his assessment. "This Quen Sign is qualified."

If Vesemir had not taken charge of these apprentices after the Trial of Grasses,

he truly would have suspected that Ailin had learned it beforehand.

Who learned a Sign immediately after the lesson ended without even needing to practice?

It was utterly ridiculous.

Looking at Ailin's expressionless face as he waited for an evaluation, Vesemir could not help sighing inwardly:

How many times has it been now? How many times has an apprentice's incomprehensible talent made me lose my composure?

It's time to look for that experimental record in the library. Could every apprentice with Witcher's Eye be like Ailin?

How could Witchers like that have disappeared without a trace?

Raising a hand to press the apprentices crowding closer back into place, Vesemir praised him:

"Ailin, your Quen Sign is already qualified."

"That counts as qualified? What use is a shield that breaks with one poke?" Bont questioned before he could stop himself.

"Shallow!"

Vesemir's smile vanished.

"Being able to cast a Sign is only the first step. Physical constitution is the key factor that ultimately determines a Sign's strength."

"You have just undergone the Trial of Grasses. The mutated tissues created by it have yet to fully integrate."

"Once the potions have settled, the strength of every Sign will improve by leaps and bounds. The Quen Sign, in particular, will be enough to withstand two or three attacks from drowners."

After explaining, Vesemir looked kindly at Ailin and said, "Ailin, today's Sign lesson only covers Quen. You may move freely now."

"Wow!"

The apprentices looked at Ailin enviously, thinking he was about to leave right away.

Unexpectedly, Ailin shook his head and requested, "Master Vesemir, I would like to ask for something."

"What is it?" Vesemir asked.

Ailin organized his words.

"Yesterday morning, I heard that you and Leto were going outside to catch drowners."

"I want to go with you."

Vesemir asked curiously, "Why?"

"I want to kill more drowners and familiarize myself with their attack patterns." Ailin paused before speaking honestly. "The Trial of the Mountains is coming soon. I'm afraid I won't even be able to pass the first stage."

At the mention of the Trial of the Mountains, Vesemir instinctively looked toward the other apprentices.

The three apprentices, who had been chatting quietly, all grew somewhat dejected upon hearing Ailin's words.

The Trial of the Mountains was the final mountain weighing over their heads.

Which apprentice had not had nightmares about dying during the trial?

In the end, Vesemir sighed inwardly and agreed to Ailin's request.

"Leto and I originally planned to go catch drowners this afternoon."

"However, since you wish to come, we can change the time to evening."

"After your classes this afternoon, come straight here. We'll set out once we meet up."

Ailin immediately replied, "All right, Master Vesemir."

Seeing everything unfold just as he had imagined, Ailin breathed a sigh of relief. He had intended to stay and help Vesemir teach the apprentices.

But before he had taught for long, he was driven away.

The reason was that he was affecting the other apprentices' lessons.

Ailin accepted the reason and obediently left.

However, that evening, Huus told Ailin

that he, Bont, and Fred unanimously believed Ailin's teaching was far better than Vesemir's.

After leaving the apprentice training grounds, Ailin hesitated for a while between the library and the Alchemy Room before choosing the library.

It was not yet time for his appointment with the Sorceress.

Besides, Vesemir was not the only one curious about what Witcher's Eye was like.

Ailin was very curious about it as well.

He also needed to use those materials to determine how he should disguise himself in the future.

The library and the Alchemy Room were both located in Kaer Morhen's inner district, in towers on either side of the main keep.

One was in the northern tower, while the other was in the eastern tower.

When he arrived at the library, the door was open.

Ailin looked inside.

Huge.

That was Ailin's first impression of the School of the Wolf's library.

Although it could not compare to the libraries from his previous life, rows upon rows of dark solid-wood bookshelves stretched out beyond sight from the doorway.

Before coming here, Ailin had thought the library would be about the same size as the Alchemy Room.

There was only one young man in a black robe inside the library.

He wore glasses and sat by the entrance with a book in his hands, reading with great interest.

He did not even notice Ailin walk up to him.

"Hello." Ailin greeted him softly.

The man remained absorbed in the world of his book and did not look up.

Ailin could only tap on his desk, raise his voice, and call out again.

"Hello, I'm looking for the experimental reco—"

Bang

Startled by Ailin's voice, the man violently flung the book upward.

If Ailin's senses had not greatly improved this morning, the book would have nearly smashed into his face.

Quickly catching the book, Ailin could not help grumbling inwardly:

I never expected the first time I benefited from improved senses would be outside of combat.

As he put the book down, Ailin glanced at its title:

"A Thousand and One Nights of a Witcher Master and a Nighon"

Ailin: "?"
