A Square Gift
Night deepened, time quietly passed midnight, and Christmas Eve quietly came to an end.
Wizet gently turned the doorknob, went down the stairs to the living room on the first floor, and stuffed the Christmas gifts into the stocking by the fireplace.
Luna loved the story of Santa Claus, so she bought the ribbons, balloons, and the big red Christmas stockings as well.
Just as Wizet was stuffing the gift for Luna into her sock and was about to pull open the other sock, she heard faint footsteps coming from upstairs.
He took a few steps back, moving closer to the kitchen, and waited quietly.
A series of soft rustling sounds came from the living room, followed by footsteps.
Luna appeared in a light blue nightgown. The moment she saw Wizet, she winked playfully with her right eye and covered her mouth as they hid in the kitchen together.
The footsteps outside at that moment were, of course, coming from Xenophilius.
"These are Luna's socks...and there's something inside?" Xenophilius, puzzled. "Would Wizet have sent a book?"
"Never mind! These are Wizet's socks... What did Luna give me? They're all square and neat, could they... be a book too?"
"Oh no! Will Wizet's hard work... infect Luna? Oh well, since they're both Ravenclaw, there's nothing we can do..."
Just as Wizet and Luna were about to leave the kitchen, Xenophilius's footsteps faded into the distance until they disappeared from sight.
"Merry Christmas!" Wizet whispered, taking Christmas presents out of her stocking.
Luna's smile was evident in her words, and the gift in her hand was also square-shaped. "Merry Christmas!"
The two sat facing each other, unwrapping the first gift they had received.
Wizet gave Luna a picture book as a gift, while Luna gave Wizet a picture frame as a gift.
"You can draw something on it..."
"You can press there..."
Luna picked up the pen in the sketchbook. It was a crystal pen. She used the crystal pen to outline the shape of a rabbit. With a faint light, the snow-white rabbit emerged from the sketchbook and began to hop and jump.
Wizet pressed down on the picture frame, and the leaves hidden inside flew up, floating on the frame and stacking on top of each other to form a dynamic picture of him throwing the Quaffle into the door ring.
This is a magical item that is both simple and ingenious. It is simple in that the magic it is attached to only uses a basic spell— the Levitation Charm.
There are so many ingenious details. Whether it's using the Levitation Charm to adjust the position of the leaves or selecting such a colorful array of leaves, it all requires incredible ingenuity.
Spirituality and ingenuity, patience and meticulousness... In Wizet's view, only Luna could blend them so perfectly and present them without reservation.
"I love so much..."
"Good night..."
They spoke at the same time and then laughed at the same time.
They took out the gifts that were supposed to be placed earlier and put them into Xenophilius's stocking...
Wizet returned to her room, lay on her bed, and stared at the ceiling, lost in memories. She recalled Luna's earnest way of collecting leaves at Hogwarts, and gradually drifted off to sleep...
On Christmas Day, Wizet woke up from her sleep.
There was a loud noise coming from downstairs, like some kind of impact.
He immediately snapped out of it, quickly rolled out of bed, cast the Guardian Meditation and the Magic Eye at the same time, then pulled his wand from his pocket, his expression turning serious.
Turning the doorknob, I heard a loud banging sound outside, along with a sharp, familiar voice.
"Dobby cannot leave here! Dobby already belongs to Mr. Lovegood!"
Then came another crash.
Dobby?
House-elf?
Connecting the two, Wizet could only think of the House-elf who liked to punish her.
He remained vigilant until he went downstairs to assess the situation and confirmed that Luna and Xenophilius alright, at which point he finally breathed a sigh of relief.
"Wizet, come and see... what's going on?" Xenophilius looked up at Wizet. "He says he belongs to Mr. Lovegood, but then he won't listen to me..."
"I just saw him, and he's been standing here hurting himself... He even said it was some kind of punishment, that he had to show his remorse..."
"Master..." Dobby turned to Wizet and continued to punish himself, banging his head against the floor until it bled profusely, and the air was filled with the smell of blood.
Wizet frowned and said, "Stop!"
Dobby stopped moving, still keeping his head down, letting the blood flow down his wound to the ground.
"Here you go... you can use it to stop the bleeding." Luna ran into the living room, holding a stone mortar in her hands, which contained some crushed herbs, which looked like Dittany.
Dobby made no move, but simply bowed to Wizet without moving.
Wizet then asked, "Why are you here?"
"Master...I am...your House-elf ...I will serve you with all my heart..." Dobby's voice trembled as if he was suppressing his fear.
As he spoke, he continued to bow, slowly approaching Wizet, and then presented her with a letter.
Wizet took the letter and saw that the envelope was signed Lucius Malfoy, and there were two parchments inside.
A piece of parchment contained a short letter with only two brief sentences. "A gift for you, faithful Lucius Malfoy."
Another parchment, from the House-elf Relocation Office, is a certificate issued by the Ministry of Magic confirming that Dobby is now Wizet's property.
"Wizet." Luna stepped forward and handed him the mortar. "He bled a lot Dobby I did."
"I understand, I'll handle it." Wizet smiled, though he also had many questions in his mind.
Why would Lucius suddenly send a gift, especially a House-elf?
And then there's the supposedly loyal Lucius Malfoy...
Why say such things to him?
Thinking of this, Wizet looked at Dobby again, "Come up with me! The Dust and Grime Begone!"
He took out his wand, cleaned up the bloodstains in the living room, and took Dobby back to the bedroom.
"Apply the medicine to yourself!" Wizet handed the mortar and Dobby.
When he made a move, Dobby instinctively took a step back, and then began to punish himself.
Wizet immediately stopped him, saying, "Stop! You are not allowed to hurt yourself without my permission."
"Oh!" Dobby let out a long sigh, looking at Wizet with an incredulous gaze.
Wizet said, "Apply the medicine! This is Dittany; it will easily stop the bleeding."
"Yes, my master..." Dobby carefully took the mortar and pestle, and with a look of resignation, closed his eyes and smeared the medicinal paste on his forehead.
With a hissing sound, Dobby's wound healed quickly, though the bloodstains all over his head made him look rather gruesome...
