At that moment, inside a massive warehouse on the docks, the pirates of the Void Concordat also received the news.
"He's insane. This Rogue Trader has lost his mind. What the hell is he trying to do?" Raid Collins, the Void Concordat's overseer in the Landing Port, snarled in fury.
"Boss, maybe they're just passing through?"
"Did you smoke too much of that garbage chem? This is aimed straight at us!"
"Maybe they just want to flex? Because we turned down his revenge earlier?"
"Let's hope so... They don't know our real stronghold. If they trash the front, let them—it's no loss. And tell the boys to gear up. If they actually find this place, we're not sitting idle. He's just a Rogue Trader. The Concordat's clashed with them before. We've even taken shots at the Navy, let alone him.
Besides, that bastard just rode out a Warp storm—who knows how many of his crew are still breathing. The Capital World's in civil war. No one's coming to help him! Once he realizes he can't touch us, he'll have to come to the table!"
"But... he's a Rogue Trader. Do we really want a direct fight with him?"
"Are you a fucking coward? A Glock Beast has more guts than you. Too scared to be a pirate? Careful, or I'll hand you over to those Dark Eldar freaks."
"I'll never question you again, boss!"
The pirate clearly backed down—he knew his boss was dead serious.
At Raid's command, cargo crates were pried open. Laspistols and automatic weapons were pulled out and passed to the pirates, along with a few Star Mark Weapons from the Eldar, and even Igariian Crystal Grenades—xeno-made devices that, on detonation, sprayed razor-sharp crystal shards, packing far more punch than standard grenades.
The pirates also hauled out stacks of Carapace Armour—gear not even standard-issue for the Astra Militarum. Yet these pirates had plenty, a grim testament to the obscene profits of the Cold Trade.
Inside the warehouse stood over a dozen xeno soldiers.
Kroot. These humanoid aliens could devour opponents, absorb their DNA traits, and pass them down to offspring—one of the few mercenary xeno races available for hire.
These dozen Kroot hailed from the Blood Eagle Clan, elite specimens refined over generations of gene-modding. They were intelligent, skilled hunters, capable of using human weaponry while boasting strength and speed far beyond baseline humans.
Some Kroot, through genetic inheritance, could even briefly phase their bodies into the Warp and return intact.
Kroot, fully armed Combat Servitors, and nearly five hundred pirates kitted to the teeth—it was clear how heavily the Void Concordat had invested in their Landing Port stronghold.
Meanwhile, Gao Yi's squad, tipped off by Jie Yi, was heading straight for the Void Concordat's base.
Gao Yi hadn't expected Jie Yi to have moles inside the Concordat's stronghold, feeding him their personnel and firepower layout.
Jie Yi kindly warned Gao Yi that his two hundred men might not be enough and offered reinforcements, even volunteering her own gang members to join the fight. Gao Yi flatly refused.
No way. This was a product demonstration. If he needed other fighters to help, what kind of image would that project?
The stronger the enemy, the higher he could jack up the price later!
He'd taken down Warp demons and Psykers. Why fear a bunch of pirates? That would make his interstellar-enhanced tech look like garbage.
And their blatant, undisguised advance immediately drew every eye.
Every faction sent representatives to watch the show. Even Tantos made no move to dispatch guards to stop or mediate the conflict.
Gao Yi sensed the surroundings with his psychic power. Countless eyes watched from the shadows.
"A Priest of the Ecclesiarchy? Those implants... a Magos from the Adeptus Mechanicus. Imperial Navy... that rank... a general? Oh? The Adeptus Arbites sent someone too? Tsk tsk. And that Rosette tucked at the waist—an Inquisitor in person. Looks like a lot of people are curious about me. Well, the audience is here. Time to start."
The Rangers sprinted forward, their Combat Suits stomping against the alloy floor in a steady, rhythmic clatter—a death knell to those inside the warehouse.
Nearby civilians wisely dropped what they were doing and cleared out. When big shots clashed, they figured it was best to stay far away.
Seeing the massive warehouse ahead, Gao Yi knew he'd arrived.
The Void Concordat's scouts outside had already relayed Gao Yi's movements in real time.
"He actually found it? How the hell? A mole?" Through a hidden window, Raid peered out, then swept his gaze over his men.
"By the God-Emperor, boss, don't look at me! I'm not the mole!!"
Just as Raid was weighing whether Gao Yi would attack or negotiate, a Spike Round answered for him.
"Madman! That Rogue Trader is a madman!! By the God-Emperor! Return fire! I don't care if he's a Rogue Trader—kill him!!"
Outside, the onlookers probably thought the same as Raid—that Gao Yi would negotiate first, or use his Rogue Trader status to force the Concordat to back down and apologize.
No one expected him to open fire without a word.
Gang fights happened every hour in the Landing Port. Even if a few Landing Port Kings died, the major factions wouldn't bat an eye.
But a full-scale direct clash with a Rogue Trader in the Landing Port? That was rare.
As they witnessed Gao Yi's ruthlessness and decisiveness, they also saw the sheer power of the CMC Power Armour series.
"Is that Power Armour? No, impossible. Even a Rogue Trader couldn't afford that many suits. And those weapons—never seen them before. By the God-Emperor, the Mongert Family is about to get rich? Did they uncover new Lost Technology?!"
Every observer's mind raced. Even the Magos of the Adeptus Mechanicus found no match in their databases.
"Lost Technology / Initiate Exploration Protocol / Knowledge is Truth / Seek cooperation with Rogue Trader / Acquire relevant technology /"
The C-14 Gauss Rifle's penetration rivaled that of a Laspistol, but its rate of fire left the Laspistol in the dust.
The Marauder's Quad Grenade Launcher, with its terrifying sustained firepower, left a deep impression on everyone.
Credit went to the Ammo Feeder on the CMC-660 Combat Suit's back. It wasn't just a magazine—it could load raw materials and continuously manufacture grenades inside, giving the Marauder unending suppressive fire.
The pirates inside the warehouse were utterly shell-shocked. They struggled to return fire, only for the Rangers' Jump Pack Shields to block every shot.
"Kroot! You took the money—now earn it! Charge out!!!"
Raid's one arm had already been shattered by a Spike Round. Even the pirates under his command, clad in Carapace Armour, couldn't withstand more than a few Spike Rounds, and the relentless bombardment of grenades from the enemy made him wonder if they had deployed armored vehicles—was this the firepower of just two hundred men?
The Kroot were dedicated too, not fleeing even under these circumstances. Regardless, they were qualified and excellent mercenaries.
Like geckos, the Kroot crawled down to the base of the warehouse, then sprinted at speeds far beyond human capability and leaped toward the Marauders at the front.
They hurled bombs downward, gripping their metal spears tightly.
The weapons in their hands looked like primitive spears, but the tips had long been replaced with monomolecular blades. Just as these Kroot prepared to take the Marauders by surprise and finish them with spears that had slain countless enemies, they had no idea that Gao Yi had already detected them through his psychic perception while they were climbing.
And the moment they sprang out, the warning system inside the Combat Suit immediately alerted the Rangers within.
Half the Kroot were dead before they even hit the ground. The survivors, relying on their immense strength to fight, soon realized how wrong they were.
Though Rangers couldn't match the Kroot in speed, with the boost from their power systems, they were even stronger than these Kroot, who had been enhanced over generations.
