History
Retrieval from the Dynasty Vault
Pavian removed the Power Sword and a master-crafted heavy bolter from the Mongert Dynasty’s vault to equip Gao Yi for the descent into the bottom hold. Both weapons were relics left by earlier Rogue Traders. Veil rebuked Pavian for taking them without permission, but Gao Yi accepted the equipment and postponed Pavian’s punishment until the crisis was resolved 15.
Gao Yi activated the sword using a switch on its grip and tested it with several swings. He was particularly pleased by its balance and preferred it to the accompanying bolter, finding melee combat more satisfying 15.
Combat Use
During the confrontation with the corrupted Ludwig, Gao Yi activated the sword, shot through two corrupted Praetorian Guards, and charged forward in his Marauder armour. After pushing past additional guards, he thrust the blade at Ludwig 16.
Gao Yi later kept the sword beside his bed in the dynasty palace. When his psychic perception detected an intruder approaching without alerting the guards, he seized it, smashed through his bedroom door, and attacked. The intruder was a Genestealer Cult assassin; Gao Yi’s opening strike missed and struck the ground 57.
Destruction
When Glock Iron Hand charged Gao Yi, the sword initially blocked the Warboss’s gauntlet strike but developed cracks. Its disintegration field could not destroy the gauntlet, which carried a similar, stronger energy field. Damage to the blade also destabilized the sword’s own field 91.
The sword eventually shattered under the strain of the fight. After defeating and decapitating Iron Hand, Gao Yi discarded the damaged weapon and took the Warboss’s gauntlet for himself 91 92.
