Background / History

Shrek Academy originally operated from a small village near Suotuo City. Its entrance consisted of a battered signboard, an old registration table, and a run-down gatehouse; applicants frequently mistook it for an ordinary village rather than a Soul Master academy. Despite this appearance, more than one hundred applicants were present during one intake. 23

The academy maintained strict admissions requirements and could sometimes fail to recruit any students in a year. During the intake involving Ye Xian and his peers, it accepted four new students, bringing its student body to seven. 32 Its stated tradition was to accept only students who were twelve years old. 110

Tang San initially failed Shrek's entrance assessment after injuring Vice-Dean Zhao Wuji with a crossbow bolt; Zhao Wuji ordered Dai Mubai to expel him. 29 Tang later entered through Yu Xiaogang's connection to Dean Flender, while Yu Xiaogang was placed within the academy's academic-affairs system but excluded from regular teaching duties. 47

Shrek's limited facilities prevented it from being registered under a kingdom or empire, disqualifying it from the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament. The academy therefore accepted Heaven Dou Royal Academy's invitation for an exchange, hoping to obtain tournament eligibility, better conditions, and access to mimicry cultivation grounds. 112 131 The arrangement collapsed after Snow Star Prince insulted the academy and demanded that its teachers prove themselves against a Soul Douluo. 135

After leaving Heaven Dou Royal Academy, Shrek's teachers applied to Blue Tyrant Advanced Soul Master Academy.
