Background / History
Shrek Academy originally operated from a small village near Suotuo City. Its entrance consisted of a battered signboard, an old registration table, and a run-down gatehouse; applicants frequently mistook it for an ordinary village rather than a Soul Master academy. Despite this appearance, more than one hundred applicants were present during one intake. 23
The academy maintained strict admissions requirements and could sometimes fail to recruit any students in a year. During the intake involving Ye Xian and his peers, it accepted four new students, bringing its student body to seven. 32 Its stated tradition was to accept only students who were twelve years old. 110
Tang San initially failed Shrek's entrance assessment after injuring Vice-Dean Zhao Wuji with a crossbow bolt; Zhao Wuji ordered Dai Mubai to expel him. 29 Tang later entered through Yu Xiaogang's connection to Dean Flender, while Yu Xiaogang was placed within the academy's academic-affairs system but excluded from regular teaching duties. 47
Shrek's limited facilities prevented it from being registered under a kingdom or empire, disqualifying it from the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament. The academy therefore accepted Heaven Dou Royal Academy's invitation for an exchange, hoping to obtain tournament eligibility, better conditions, and access to mimicry cultivation grounds. 112 131 The arrangement collapsed after Snow Star Prince insulted the academy and demanded that its teachers prove themselves against a Soul Douluo. 135
After leaving Heaven Dou Royal Academy, Shrek's teachers applied to Blue Tyrant Advanced Soul Master Academy. Their displayed strength—two Soul Emperors and three Soul Saints—immediately earned the evaluators' respect. 143 Liu Erlong subsequently transferred management to Flender and renamed Blue Tyrant Academy as Shrek Academy. 146 148
Campus and Facilities
Original Campus
- Located at a village entrance near Suotuo City. 23

Reorganized Campus

Admissions and Training
Shrek's training emphasized physical conditioning, practical combat, endurance, resilience, and sustained fighting capability. Its students underwent an initial demanding training phase before completing a month of frequent Soul Battles at the Soto Great Soul Arena. 111
- Students could participate in up to three spirit fights per day during the Great Soul Arena training period. 111
- The training improved the students' endurance, recovery, and ability to coordinate in real combat. 111
- Flender regarded team composition as central to victory: members should develop extreme strengths while covering one another's weaknesses. 197
- The academy's first graduate was Qin Ming, who previously held its record for reaching Rank Thirty fastest. 108
Shrek Team
Flender organized the academy's core combat group under numbered aliases, ranked primarily by strength. 54
| Alias | Member | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Shrek Number One | Ye Xian | Ranked first in strength. 54 |
| Shrek Number Two | Dai Mubai | Initially served as team captain in Soul Arena records. 54 93 |
| Shrek Number Three | Xiao Wu | Core member. 54 |
| Shrek Number Four | Zhu Zhuqing | Core member. 54 |

The team wore masks and used these aliases during its Great Soul Arena matches to protect its members' identities and ages from public attention. 87 88 After a month of Soul Battles, the team had become well known among Soto Great Soul Arena spectators and maintained a perfect Team Battle record. 87 93

Uniforms and Public Image
Shrek's tournament uniform was a yellow-green color described by Dai Mubai as “shit green.” Each shirt bore an oversized Monster Shrek emblem and the embroidered message “Sponsorships wanted,” followed by instructions to contact Flender for advertising fees. 155
- Flender defended the deliberately embarrassing uniform as mental-resilience training. 155
- One-third of any advertising income was promised to the competing students; the remainder funded academy development. 155
- The team was initially mocked as “toads” and treated as a spectacle because of its appearance. 157 159
- After its early tournament victories, the academy's green uniforms became popular merchandise, with at least one-third of spectators wearing them during later matches. 195 197
- The team's fame brought Shrek Academy a flood of new applications before the normal enrollment season. 198
