Chen Shi used the Curse Dao to kill Zhong Wanfang and Monk Pan, while Qingxu Daode Tianzun protected Immortal Lord Xin and True Man Mei with a life-swapping technique and fled with them to seek help from Chan Master Wu Chao. After Chen Shi’s forces conquered Wu Yue Star Mansion, Great Emperor Gouchen warned that the Shangqing Sect Master was coming to kill him, leaving Chen Shi to rely on the Great Heavenly Venerate’s watchfulness as his only hope.
Chen Shi tried to steer Emperor Gouchen away from choosing between the Heavenly Court and the Immortal Court, arguing that he should remain in the Heavenly Market Enclosure and follow his conscience. Yun Zhongzi arrived and revealed that he had engineered the crisis to make Gouchen defect, but Chen Shi’s intervention had thwarted his plan.
Yun Zhongzi confronted Great Emperor Gouchen, demanding back the red apricots and Wind and Thunder Staff to sever their bond and demonstrate the Shangqing Realm’s stance. Gouchen returned them, then seized the staff back and fought Yun Zhongzi, leaving their conflict unresolved.
Chen Shi watched Great Emperor Gouchen and Yun Zhongzi battle, using a newly opened Dao Eye to understand their Great Dao techniques and discovering that Yun Zhongzi’s Method of Mending the Heavens relied heavily on Outer Dao. Yun Zhongzi drove Gouchen to the brink of defeat before the Ziwei Great Emperor arrived, and Chen Shi was left troubled by the Jade Emperor Great Heavenly Venerate’s unseen influence.
Chen Shi recognized how thoroughly the Great Heavenly Venerate had controlled the campaign as Ziwei Great Emperor arrived and reconciled with Great Emperor Gouchen. After Chen Shi confessed his and his grandfather’s role in developing and spreading the meta-sigil, Ziwei and Gouchen gave him their Divine Way Dao patterns to transform, arranging to meet again in two months at Golden Ao Island.
Chen Shi and Created Being Xiao Wu deciphered the Dao patterns of Great Emperor Gouchen and Ziwei Great Emperor, but Chen Shi used their work to tamper with proto-sigils and seize control. The chapter ended as Xiao Wu realized Chen Shi had become a threat and summoned his Dao Realm and cloth dolls to oppose him.
Created Being Xiao Wu unleashed his rag-doll backups to seize Chen Shi and the disciples of Golden Ao Island, but Chen Shi defeated him and sealed away his own human nature. Chen Shi then gave Gouchen and Ziwei the proto-talismans and went to decipher more Daoist magic with Xiao Wu, while Chen Yindu learned the Immortal Court planned to eliminate the two Great Emperors.
Chen Yindu learned that Chen Shi planned to spread primordial talismans with hidden loopholes and prepared to stop him, but Chen Shi anticipated the group and trapped them in his Well Demon Domain. Chen Shi defeated Du Yiran and Sha Qiutong and sealed Chen Yindu’s cultivation, leaving him helpless in Biyou Palace.
Chen Shi took control of the Heavenly Dao Smart Brain and, three days later, taught primordial talismans to the Daluo Golden Immortals and his disciples. As he began spreading the Dao across the realms, Chen Yindu remained unsure whether Chen Shi had truly been demonized.
Chen Shi openly transmitted refined primordial talismans across Golden Ao Island, drawing new disciples and prompting other immortals to establish their own schools in western Penglai. As the Immortal Court and other powers assessed the talismans’ impact, they expected the Jade Emperor Great Heavenly Venerate to move against Chen Shi soon.
As Chen Shi spread the primal talisman, the Jade Emperor Great Heavenly Venerate chose to spare him and planned to bind Golden Ao Island to the Heavenly Court. Chen Shi suppressed the Dao god’s residual thoughts and returned to himself, while Chen Yindu and the others left to rescue Uncle Hu and secretly checked whether Chen Shi had hidden control loopholes in the talisman.
Chen Shi accepted the Jade Emperor Great Heavenly Venerate’s titles and learned that his many Dao paths would have to merge for him to consummate the Dao, while he also sought guidance on Divine Way cultivation. As Chen Shi prepared to visit Houtu Huangdiqi with Fairy Xiaoduan, three Western Heaven figures arrived to request an audience.
Three Western Heaven bodhisattvas tried to persuade Chen Shi to seek refuge with their respective factions, but he refused and prepared to travel to the Xuanhuang Sea. After the bodhisattvas parted, Fahuālin pursued Chen Shi’s carriage while the others made separate plans to reach him.
Chen Shi and Xiaoduan traveled toward Empress Houtu while debating whether the Primordial Talisman could prevent kalpa catastrophes, and the Jade Emperor Great Heavenly Venerate arranged rewards and a title for them. Their journey through lands scarred by war ended when they discovered that the peaceful Buddhist realm in the Eastern Heaven was a Great Luo Heaven transformed by a Buddhist expert, whose Bodhisattva attendant invited Chen Shi to visit.
Chen Shi and Fairy Xiaoduan fought Bodhisattva Fahuālin after he tried to escort them to the Western Heaven, and they overwhelmed him by combining Xiaoduan’s dao-fire and attacks with Chen Shi’s Demon Blood Treasure Tree. They left Fahuālin trapped and corrupted inside his Treasure Bottle Heaven, while Chen Shi reflected that adopting proto-talismans would put Fahuālin’s life beyond his own control.
The Great Sun Tathagata studied Bodhisattva Fahuālin’s memories to prepare to capture Chen Shi and Fairy Xiaoduan, while Chen Shi received Houtu Huangdiqi’s warning that his growing influence made him a target. Though she urged him to abandon Western Penglai and hide, Chen Shi discovered that countless immortals revered him through their study of his meta-talismans and chose to stay and build his power.
