Hearing that I wanted to make a move against Fu Ting, Xie Yi fell into deep thought.
Only after a long while did he say, "Old Shu said that no matter what you want to do, we'll support you. If you think this can reduce future trouble, then do it. Do you need me to handle it personally?"
Xie Yi surprisingly said nothing else, nor did he tell me to weigh the pros and cons.
I shook my head. "Not now. The next time he comes, I'll completely infuriate him and make him strike first. The responsibility can't fall on us, and we can't be the ones to attack first. Even if we do fight, we have to appear passive, so they think his death was merely an accident during a conflict and that we never intended to kill him. No matter what, he represents the Administration Bureau. Unit Nine and the Administration Bureau shouldn't openly fall out for now."
Xie Yi hadn't expected me to think that way. He looked at me with a rather interesting expression.
He put an arm around my shoulder. "Not bad. You've started learning how to play mind games. You weren't this devious before."
I rolled my eyes. "Wasn't it reality that beat it into me?"
Xie Yi sighed. "Yeah, every one of us was beaten into this by reality. Back when we followed Director Shu, we had plenty of strange experiences, but they were only internal problems within our world. Now, the ones we have to deal with are outsiders, while some of our former enemies have become allies. And we have no choice but to accept that reality. Isn't that ridiculous?"
I gave a bitter smile. "At least you know what you're doing. But what about me?"
He froze for a moment.
