Background / History
Guo Yi is an orphan and long-term recluse who spent nearly ten years living quietly at his factory while developing technology in secret. He knows the identity of his birth parents but chooses not to contact them. His stated goal is not wealth, fame, or political power, but to explore the universe and learn whether alien life and other civilizations exist. 8 29
His underground factory becomes the target of a special operation after authorities suspect him of acquiring dangerous materials through K2. During the siege, he compromises military communications, exposes knowledge of classified special-forces units, and demonstrates technology far beyond the authorities' expectations. 1 2 3
After meeting Elder Zhou and Elder Zhao, Guo Yi reveals his full-coverage Qiongqi exoskeleton and begins cooperating with the state rather than remaining hidden. He is subsequently placed in charge of Factory Zero, where he develops mecha systems, trains pilots and crew members, and gradually adapts to leading a large organization. 6 20 21 30
As humanity develops into the Galactic Civilization, Guo Yi becomes publicly identified as its Pioneer and a benchmark for its scientists. He takes responsibility for crucial projects including the gravity-control engine, but remains uneasy with political negotiations and later discovers that his knowledge does not encompass every technology beyond the civilization's current level. 61 137 150 386
Appearance
Guo Yi has a proportioned, muscular physique that Lone Wolf initially mistakes for gym-built muscle with little practical combat value. His actual speed, strength, and explosiveness prove substantially greater than theirs. 10
- Frequently appears through realistic 3D projections rather than in person. 3 6
- Uses the three-meter-tall Qiongqi-0 full-coverage exoskeleton, whose faceplate opens to reveal him inside. 6
- Possesses an enhanced physique through drug adjustment and gene repair. 11
Personality
Guo Yi is a technology-focused recluse who is far more comfortable researching, designing, or arguing with familiar companions than facing crowds. He becomes visibly overwhelmed when asked to speak before thousands of people and initially struggles with the managerial and interpersonal demands of leadership. 20 21 22
He is confident to the point of arrogance when discussing his inventions, often teasing military personnel and enjoying their reactions. His exchanges with Ostrich, Section Chief Zhou, and Doggy show a mischievous sense of humor, including elaborate threats of embarrassing revenge rather than direct retaliation. 4 7 12
Despite his recklessness and impatience, Guo Yi shows respect toward senior scientists, whom he considers idols. He also recognizes ethical limits around genetic technology and artificial life, and later admits when tactical or political matters exceed his expertise. 4 11 130 150
Abilities & Skills
Technological Knowledge
Guo Yi possesses extensive technical knowledge that he cannot fully explain; he describes it as knowledge that has always existed in his mind. Mechanical sciences can be learned by him through an unusual dream-like process, though this does not extend to management or other humanities fields. 8 22
- Develops advanced materials, energy systems, mecha, projection systems, medical technology, and aerospace equipment. 4 6 28 51
- Can provide complete theoretical data for technologies such as the Wave-Particle Chip Assembler. 23
- Was assigned responsibility for the Galactic Civilization's gravity-control engine. 61
- Does not understand every technology; he later encounters data beyond his comprehension, revealing a limit to his knowledge. 386
Hacking and Information Warfare
Guo Yi is an elite hacker known as the Poison King. He can infiltrate, trace, and exploit communications networks while using Doggy to process and display information. 2 3
- Hijacked special-forces communication channels during the operation against his factory. 1 3
- Traced the military command post by following communications back to their source. 3
- Used communications records to identify and mark K2 personnel connected to Black Cat. 48
- Previously used hacking to steal money from drug dealers when short on research funds. 22
Mecha and Aerospace Engineering
Guo Yi designs, modifies, and pilots advanced humanoid combat systems. He argues that humanoid machines are most useful in space and three-dimensional combat environments rather than conventional atmospheric warfare. 8 28 33
- Created the Qiongqi full-coverage exoskeleton using E-carbon steel, E-carbon fiber Type 2, a nuclear battery, and mechanical shock absorption. 6
- Revised Gundam designs for mass production and different pilot physical standards. 10 12
- Designed Heavy Firepower, Long-Range Sniper, Assassin Close Combat, and High-Speed Close Combat mobile-suit variants. 28
- Modified a Yun-7 military transport aircraft with a Mirage stealth system and a Super Advanced Deuterium Core for a rescue mission. 49 51
- Described gravity-engine technology capable of altering the gravity of objects within a ten-meter radius if sufficient computational power is available. 406
Biological and Medical Research
Guo Yi applies scientific principles and Traditional Chinese Medicine to human enhancement and recovery. He distinguishes his own methods from genetic modification, describing them as drug adjustment and gene repair. 11 28
- Enhanced his own physical ability through drug adjustment and gene repair. 11
- Developed preliminary cell-repair fluid used to treat training damage. 28
- Directed research into cell-energy fluid and neural stem-cell energy fluid. 28
- Rejects creating androids without sufficient materials or ethical justification. 11
Martial Arts and Close Combat
Guo Yi combines physical enhancement with scientific study of martial arts and human movement. 10
- Used Baji Quan: Top Heart Elbow against Shi Dafan, forcing him to block and yield the strike's force. 10
- Understands the scientific principles behind Wing Chun and other martial arts. 10
- Includes Wing Chun and Tan Tui movements in Gundam pilot training. 15
- Is formidable against ordinary special-forces personnel, but later admits he cannot defeat elite security personnel from other combat zones in close quarters. 10 174
Training and Instruction
Guo Yi develops harsh pilot and crew training programs for Gundam and space-battleship personnel. Though reluctant to teach large groups, he becomes an effective instructor through simulations, monitoring systems, and post-battle reviews. 30 33 35
- Uses real-time monitoring goggles, earpieces, energy bars, specialized uniforms, and medical pods to supervise trainees. 13
- Trains spatial awareness and rapid threat response in zero-gravity conditions. 15
- Uses electric-pulse training suits and electrified obstacle courses to force physical adaptation. 15 34
- Conducts simulation battles and detailed after-action reviews to teach ammunition management, movement, weapon choice, and tactics. 33 34
