Fleet Characteristics
- Initially disguised itself as a vast “refugee fleet,” mixing combat vessels with life-sustaining colony ships and lacking unified flags or particle signatures. 293 294
- Its warships combine biological tissue with conventional materials, giving the fleet a cold, predatory appearance distinct from the Orc Civilization’s more overtly warlike biotechnology. 293 314
- The fleet fielded hundreds of millions of vessels during its initial assault on the Orc, Moster, and Tertius civilizations. 293
- Rather than relying on Planet Fortresses, it sustained itself through overwhelming numbers, local production, battlefield salvage, and an unusually low requirement for conventional crews. 293 358
Abilities & Tactics
On-Site Warship Production
The fleet converts occupied territory, wreckage, and extracted resources into replacement warships, allowing it to maintain pressure through attrition.
- Engineering, colony, production, and other auxiliary ships combine with biological structures to form massive warship production points. 358
- Production bases are half biological and half technological; one documented facility exceeded 100,000 kilometers and contained numerous unfinished warships. 325
- Warships and mecha harvest asteroid belts, ruins, and destroyed space colonies for raw materials. 325
- The fleet recycles wreckage from both sides of a battle, rapidly repairing and converting it into new vessels. 293 298
- The Pangu Fleet destroyed 110 production points over three years, but the Invading Fleet continued its offensive operations. 346 347
Bio-Engineered Control Units
Invading warships are operated by semi-artificial, modified humans rather than normal crews.
- These humanoid control units are treated as components of warships, not as people. 358
- Their use drastically reduces the fleet’s personnel requirements compared with the defending civilizations. 358
- The fleet’s strategy was designed to exhaust enemy combat personnel; conquered populations could ultimately be turned into replacement control units. 358
- Production points guarded by elite units were believed to be crucial sites for producing these control units. 358
Special Devouring Warships
Some specialized vessels use biological structures to capture or destroy enemy warships.
- Five special warships could rapidly surround a Moster vessel; their forward hulls opened into maw-like structures filled with distorted tentacles. 293
- These vessels engulfed Moster warships whole, causing the captured ships to lose contact immediately. 293
- In later engagements, special warships used biological tentacles and spherical objects to restrain the Pangu Fleet and potentially corrode its shields. 338
- Their biological-tentacle encirclement was broken when the Pangu Fleet forced a shielded breakthrough. 340
Beam-Absorbing Warships
A second special-warship type uses umbrella-shaped collar membranes to absorb beam attacks.
- The membranes visibly glow with flowing green light while storing absorbed energy. 306
- Stored beam energy cannot be processed effectively during combat; overloading the vessels causes them to explode from internal pressure. 306
- The Pangu Fleet exploited this limitation through sustained main-cannon fire, triggering destructive chain reactions among the special warships. 306 310
Mobile Force and Mecha Warfare
The fleet deploys large numbers of mecha alongside its warships.
- A documented force included roughly 30,000 assault ships and 50,000 other warships, potentially carrying around five million mecha. 313
- Its mecha units were identified as matching aliens encountered by the Alliance in an earlier incident. 314
- The fleet used dense artillery barrages and numerical superiority to prevent enemy mecha from reaching its warships. 315
- Its mobile forces also escorted supply convoys and reacted immediately to intrusions near defended production points. 335
Defensive Minefields
The fleet adapted its production-point defenses after repeated infiltration attempts.
- Its second documented production point was protected by two layers of Space Mines. 334
- The mines could explode and pursue intruding mecha even through gaps much wider than a mecha’s frame. 335
- Additional mines were deployed between production points, asteroid belts, and ruins to block reconnaissance and supply-convoy tracking. 335
Attrition and Maneuver Warfare
The Invading Fleet avoided fighting on terms favorable to Planet Fortresses and repeatedly adapted its operational behavior.
- It initially concentrated its main assault on the Moster Civilization, the strongest of the three Omo Te civilizations. 298
- After suffering losses in direct battles, it shifted to maneuvering between the three civilizations while its other forces attacked defensive lines. 298
- It used elite units to shadow the Bi An and Pangu Fleets; if either fleet disengaged, the elite unit would attack the Mixed Fleet’s front line. 356
- Its willingness to withdraw changed according to circumstances: it retreated when faced with shielded Galactic support ships, yet often fought ordinary defenders to the death. 303 304
- By the later war, its elite fleets had become capable of simultaneously pressuring the Bi An Fleet and ordinary Mixed Fleet formations. 359
Background / History
More than thirty years before the main invasion, the Orc, Moster, and Tertius civilizations encountered a fleet of the same type and scale at the same moment. It attacked their patrol forces, expended special particles freely, fought briefly, and withdrew into the Star Sea before their Planet Fortresses could pursue it. The three civilizations later failed to locate it again. 261 294
The fleet returned in force as a supposed refugee fleet, entering all three civilizations’ star systems with hundreds of millions of warships. It immediately destroyed border-card control centers, patrol fleets, fixed defenses, and surrounding structures. The Moster fleet briefly survived due to its special armor, but its remaining ships were swallowed by the Invading Fleet’s biological special warships. 293
The three civilizations eventually halted the initial advance with Planet Fortresses and a combined million-warship counterattack. However, prolonged warfare favored the Invading Fleet: it recovered battlefield debris, produced replacement vessels locally, and used colony ships as manpower reserves. The defenders’ attrition outpaced production until their Planet Fortresses and surviving civilians were forced to flee toward the Star Spirit Civilization. 293
Story Role / Major Arcs
Invasion of the Omo Te Civilizations
The fleet invaded the Orc, Moster, and Tertius civilizations simultaneously and drove them toward extinction. It focused first on Moster, annihilating a million Moster warships in a forty-nine-day battle despite the defenders’ Super Planet Fortress and regular Planet Fortresses. 293 298
After the initial assaults, it stopped committing to head-on battles. Its main forces occupied the defenders’ super Planet Fortresses while other units attacked defense lines and rebuilt themselves from conquered territory. 298
Battle Against the Pangu Fleet
When the Pangu Fleet emerged through the Star Sea Channel, the Invading Fleet initially halted and withdrew from its charge after witnessing the support fleet’s shield systems and overwhelming beam firepower. 301 303
It then deployed beam-absorbing special warships, massed mecha, and prolonged bombardment to study the Pangu Fleet’s capabilities. The fleet’s special warships were ultimately overloaded and destroyed, while Galactic mecha devastated its mobile forces. 306 312 314
Warship Production-Point Campaign
The Pangu Fleet identified production points as the key to countering the Invading Fleet’s attrition advantage. A documented production base was guarded by approximately 500,000 warships and supplied by nearby asteroid belts and ruined Moster installations. 324 325
The Invading Fleet responded with elite garrisons, mobile defenses, Space Mines, supply escorts, and layered defensive perimeters. Despite these measures, the Pangu Fleet destroyed 110 production points across three years. 334 335 346
Prolonged Mixed Fleet War
Even after the production-point raids, the Invading Fleet maintained pressure against the Omo Te Mixed Fleet for nearly four more years. The defending side lost at least 40 million warships, while the Invading Fleet’s elite formations continued to grow stronger. 359
The fleet eventually encircled the Mixed Fleet, Devouring Star, Bi An Fleet, and Star Spirit Fleet with nearly 100 million warships. Its attack was interrupted when the defenders broke out of the encirclement and Ding Yingzhong’s second support fleet arrived. 360 362
Defeat and Aftermath
Ding Yingzhong’s shielded vanguard and the Star Spirit fleet struck the Invading Fleet by surprise, destroying nearly 100 million warships in less than ten minutes. Surviving ships attempted to flee or attack Planet Fortresses in desperation before being eliminated by the combined defenders. 363
The subsequent cleanup revealed devastated colonies and unexplained heart-like structures in occupied territory. The structures disintegrated upon contact, leaving no recoverable evidence and no clear explanation for the fleet’s true objective. 368
The invading force was later identified as a fleet of the Grave Digger Civilization. 417
Relationships
- Grave Digger Civilization — Parent civilization; the Invading Fleet was confirmed to belong to it. 417
- Orc Civilization — Invaded target; its forces were overwhelmed by the fleet’s numbers and attrition warfare. 293 298
- Moster Civilization — Primary target of the opening campaign due to its status as the strongest of the three Omo Te civilizations. 298
- Tertius Civilization — Invaded target; its border defenses were destroyed almost immediately during the initial assault. 293
- Galactic Civilization — Principal opposing force during the later campaign; its shielded fleets, mecha, and production-point raids countered the Invading Fleet’s tactics. 306 346 363
- Star Spirit Civilization — Allied with the Galactic Civilization and provided major reinforcement fleets during the decisive campaign. 362 363
Trivia
- The Invading Fleet’s original refugee-fleet disguise included colony ships, irregular materials, non-unified particles, and no unified flags. 261 293
- Its operational model made destroyed enemy warships, enemy resources, and eventually enemy populations into potential assets. 293 358
- Despite its enormous strength, it fielded no documented Planet Fortress during the invasion of the three Omo Te civilizations. 293 298
