"Personality?! Dissociative Identity Disorder?!" Ryuseki's face clearly showed confusion and surprise. The doubt he had was immediately stifled by Lin Yingbin's statement. He continued to wait for Lin Yingbin's next words.
"That's right. Actually, I've known I had dissociative identity disorder since I was very young, but I never told any of you. I thought I could suppress it myself!" Lin Yingbin lay down, resting his head on the pillow as he gazed at the ceiling, reminiscing about past events with a thoughtful expression, and began to slowly recount them to Ryuseki.
In fact, that night, he started to realize he couldn't control his other personality. Perhaps it was due to the strong enemies he had encountered recently, which had triggered the hidden, suppressed personality within him.
Lin Yingbin couldn't quite describe who that other personality was. That night, he only knew he was doing his best to suppress it. To regain consciousness, he actively choked himself, but that method didn't work. That aura had completely destroyed the last defense within his heart.
Dissociative identity disorder, also known as dissociative disorder, is when two or more distinct personality states significantly deviate from one another, causing the psyche to actively separate them. This condition usually arises from experiencing severe trauma. Normally, there are no outward signs, but at a certain moment, one might suddenly act like a completely different person, doing things that are out of character and illogical. It is considered a psychiatric emergency.
"I don't know why, but at that moment, I just couldn't control the urge to kill. It felt like my body wasn't my own." Lin Yingbin buried his head in his hands, slowly tucking himself into the blanket, tears streaming down uncontrollably. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to do that. I really had no control."
Ryuseki was taken aback, then patted Lin Yingbin as he replied, "It's okay, this isn't entirely your fault. If anything, it's all because of me!"
"Moreover, if I don't suppress that guy for a long time, he might completely take over. I'll try my best to control it and won't cause you any more trouble!"
Gradually, childhood memories began to surface in Lin Yingbin's mind. It was an evening about ten years ago.
"Get up, hurry up and stand up!" a middle-aged man yelled roughly at the child beneath his feet. "Damn it, get up! Fight back!"
"You're stepping on… my… head, I can't get up at all!" the child being stepped on retorted with a tender voice.
This child was Lin Yingbin as a child, looking disheveled but also quite cute.
"What are you roaring about? Only useless dogs bark loudly. If you can't resist this much strength, how can you take over my position? What about the future of the Lin Family? Huh! Answer me." As he spoke, the man roughly kicked Lin Yingbin away.
It was truly heartless, to strike such a young child so hard. Little Lin Yingbin rolled several times on the ground before slowly getting back onto his hands and knees.
Little Lin Yingbin, lying on the ground, quickly got up, supporting his frail body with trembling arms, muttering, "Damn it!"
"Stand up, defeat me, quickly!" the middle-aged man shouted impatiently at little Lin Yingbin, constantly provoking him with harsh words.
"Oh… Ah!" Provoked, little Lin Yingbin disregarded everything else. Now, only one thought occupied his mind: to defeat the man in front of him. With this singular thought, he charged at the man without hesitation.
His young face was etched with pure anger. He screamed and swung his fists incessantly, his movements sharp like a young beast hunting its prey. Despite the vast difference in strength, he fought with all his might.
With a 'bang…', the middle-aged man easily knocked the charging Lin Yingbin to the ground with a heavy punch. At this moment, little Lin Yingbin was covered in injuries, his tattered clothes stained with blood, looking nothing like a child should. Because of this, it was hard for him to imagine the happy lives his peers might be living under such circumstances.
Little Lin Yingbin squatted with his knees bent, hands resting on them, his head bowed as he gasped for breath. Then, he coughed up a mouthful of dark blood from his throat. His injuries appeared severe, likely affecting his internal organs.
The man showed him no mercy; each kick and punch carried the same force as the previous one.
"The disasters you face in the future won't stop just because you cry out in pain!"
Little Lin Yingbin, like a fallen young beast, lay on the ground, angrily gripping the dirt. Even though his body was covered in blood, he gritted his teeth and persisted. His eyes twitched as he looked at the middle-aged man, and slowly, a fierce aura began to emanate from them. However, he remained on the ground, the severe pain making every movement feel like a searing agony throughout his body.
"You're useless. You're not even as good as your deceased sister!" the middle-aged man said coldly to little Lin Yingbin, then turned to leave. But before he could take two steps, he was stopped by a voice from behind him.
"Father!" A faint voice called out from behind the middle-aged man.
The middle-aged man turned to look.
"…?!"
"Hah… Ah!" Suddenly, little Lin Yingbin leaped up and punched the middle-aged man in the face.
