Background / History

Lin Yingbin was raised as the prospective inheritor of the Lin Shadow Clan. His father subjected him to violent training from early childhood, insisting that kindness was weakness and that Lin needed strength, survival skills, and an unyielding character to lead the clan. During one recurring trial on his fifth birthday, Lin was abandoned far from home and forced to complete a dangerous journey of roughly 100 kilometers before sunset; after arriving late, he was denied food and locked out. 43 44 45

His father’s abuse included beating him while demanding that he fight back. After Lin struck his father, he received rare praise, only to be abandoned again that same night. He eventually discovered the Lin family estate had disappeared entirely. Following months alone, he was adopted by an old man, but was left alone once more after the man died. 43 44 45

The trauma of his childhood led to dissociative identity disorder. Lin describes his usual personality as his original self, while the other is hostile, distrustful, irritable, and dangerously aggressive. Lin attempts to pull Ryuseki out of his grief after Kikka You’s death, first through consolation and then through harsh confrontation. He warns that Kikka’s death was likely part of a larger plot aimed at Ryuseki and begins investigating the threat. 7 8

His suspicions lead him to challenge, observe, and follow Ryuu Mufei. Although hostile at first, Lin learns about the Psychokinetic Clan, Zhi, the World Alliance’s secrecy, and Zhi’s destruction of two of the Five Great Clans. 10 11 12 16

Encounters with Zhi’s Forces

Lin fights beside Ryuseki when five assassins bearing scorpion emblems ambush them and reveal that they were ordered to kill both boys while leaving their bodies intact. He recognizes their abnormal physiology and fights defensively while assessing the danger. 28

After learning of the Eight Mythical Beasts and Ryuseki’s connection to the Full Moon Dragon, Lin theorizes that Zhi may seek the beasts’ power. 33

Riot and Alternate Personality

After an unknown assailant attacks him at home, Lin suffers a violent breakdown. His alternate personality emerges, attacks Ryuseki and Ryuu Mufei, and displays overwhelming speed, strength, and Qi Flow manipulation. 33 34 38

Ryuseki and Ryuu Mufei attempt to restrain rather than kill him. Ryuu’s attempt to enter Lin’s spiritual world instead exposes him to the immense fear and darkness within Lin, breaking the psychic connection. 34 38

The battle ends after Lin attacks Meisha and Ryuu Mufei takes the blow meant for her. The green light in Lin’s eyes vanishes, and he collapses. 41

Hospital Confession

Following successful surgery, Lin tells Ryuseki that his actions were not entirely the result of Zhi’s influence: he has dissociative identity disorder and had been unable to suppress his other personality. He expresses guilt for injuring Ryuu Mufei and promises to regain control. 42 43 45
