Background / History

Xiao Li first appears as a peculiar black little beast pursued in the mountains by Young Master Wei and Wei Family guards. After Young Master Wei falls into a valley during the chase, Lu Qing brings her into his home, names her “Xiao Li,” and instructs her to remain hidden from possible retaliation. The name refers both to her civet-like appearance and to the fire-associated character Li, fitting her flame-like black fur 66.

Initially a juvenile spirit beast whose strength is assessed around the Inner Organs Realm, Xiao Li is fast and physically dangerous but inexperienced against human methods. Lu Qing protects her from exposure, while she becomes Xiao Yan's constant playmate and sleeps beside her 66 96.

Earth Vein Spirit Liquid fundamentally improves Xiao Li's potential. Upon waking, she gains the ability to distort light, conceal her aura, and remain invisible even while moving. This permits her to ambush and kill Inner Organs Realm opponents, including Wang Qingshan when he threatens Lu Qing 94 95 109 110.

After consuming the Beast Spirit Fruit, Xiao Li becomes an Innate-Level Spirit Beast. Her concealment evolves beyond light distortion into spatial concealment, allowing her to hide within darkness and evade even most Innate Realm perception. She also receives a cultivation inheritance through her transformed bloodline 253 254.

Later opportunities further transform her bloodline: Moon Essence grants Divine Sense Transmission and a size-alteration Divine Power, while Dragon Turtle True Blood gives her potential to evolve into a True Dragon 267 502. She is aloof toward strangers and generally refuses to be touched or befriended by people outside her small family. Even food offerings rarely sway her, though fish are a reliable exception 232. In contrast, she trusts Lu Qing completely, sleeping without waking in his presence and readily accepting his guidance on cultivation and danger 184 253.

Despite her pride, Xiao Li can reflect on her weaknesses. After Lu Qing restrains her during a spar, she asks to train with him more often rather than remaining complacent 254.
