Background / History

Li Pu is a transmigrator who spent one thousand and one days without steady work before obtaining employment at St. Freya Academy. A former soldier and cosplay enthusiast, he initially seeks money, recognition, and a better position within the academy rather than remaining a cleaner. 1 3 6

On his first days at St. Freya, Li Pu returns Raiden Mei’s wallet, passport, and identification without taking anything. His accidental collision with Mei and a crepe he buys her are misread by Kiana as harassment, beginning Kiana’s lasting suspicion of him. 1

Li Pu gains the King of Understanding System, which allows him to draw and equip character cards. His first documented draw is Rank A Artoria Pendragon. Although the System initially presents an embarrassing transformation sequence as necessary, Li Pu discovers that studying a character’s life, emotions, and beliefs can awaken their traits without relying entirely on the prescribed method. 2 14 17 18

His early combat growth begins in a St. Freya swordsmanship test against Mei. Artoria-derived instinct allows Li Pu to counter Mei’s iaido and disarm her in the first round, but his lack of control causes him to lose the second. The contrast convinces Li Pu that he possesses unstable, partially accessed character abilities rather than conventional sword training. 14 15

Li Pu later draws and uses characters including Cecilia, MEI, and Kallen. He obtains Excalibur and Avalon through a secret realm, becomes a Herrscher, and develops into a combatant capable of confronting major Honkai threats. 123 125 308

Appearance

Li Pu’s ordinary form is that of a lean teenage boy; Otto estimates that he is older than sixteen but younger than seventeen. His outward bearing appears loose, timid, and untrained enough that Mei initially mistakes him for an ordinary civilian. 5 13
