History

MEI first manifests as a character form assumed by Li Pu. Her resemblance to Raiden Mei causes immediate confusion, while her glasses, composed demeanor, and scientific identity distinguish her from the Valkyrie student. She is unable to remove the transformation at first, as Li Pu lacks sufficient understanding of the original MEI. 65 73

On the Hyperion, MEI presents herself as a Collapse researcher. Her knowledge of Honkai-related subjects impresses Himeko and the trainees, though Himeko notes that some of the information initially seems recited rather than fully understood. MEI declines Kiana’s request for a new Valkyrie armor, judging Kiana not yet strong enough to use one. 70

Raiden Mei comes to believe that MEI may be her missing mother, a belief reinforced when MEI prepares a bento with an emotionally familiar taste. MEI denies being her mother but acknowledges an unspoken mutual understanding between them. 71 72

World Serpent identifies MEI as a potentially awakened incarnation connected to Li Pu and abducts her from the Hyperion.
