Background / History

Kiriri is an Archmage of the Pandram lineage and a former Royal Academy instructor. She ran an apothecary shop in Oak City, where she initially taught Mel the basics of sensing and guiding magic power. Though impatient with him, she recognized his genuine desire to learn and accepted him as her disciple after he brought her a Golden Slime 71 91 284.

Her past is tied to the destruction of Lightless City. Hututu states that Kiriri was the sole survivor of a demon attack that killed the city’s inhabitants and many of her former companions, leaving her seriously injured. The event left her hostile toward demons, estranged from the Royalty and Church, and unwilling to return to battlefields or the Imperial City 263 283 284. A recording later shown at her trial depicts Kiriri slaughtering the city; the Church publicly claims this proves she colluded with demons, while the full circumstances remain unresolved 622.

When Mel disappeared after being teleported away by an unknown magic array, Kiriri spent months pursuing slave merchants and searching the Exile Land and Kren for him. She recovered Kled, punished the nobles connected to the betrayal, removed Kled’s slave mark, and eventually returned to Oak City after learning that Mel had survived 192 221.

After meeting Liberia, Kiriri immediately recognized the girl’s exceptional magical reserves and accepted her as a second disciple. She subsequently traveled with Mel and Liberia through demi-human settlements, researching curses, Ancient Magic, mixed races, abnormal storms, and the ruins connected to the Unification King 221 222 238 242 257 260.

Kiriri was later framed for the Emperor’s assassination after being summoned to the Gard Imperial Palace. She fought four Hall of Fame-level opponents before a Church Holy Relic sealed her magic power; she was imprisoned and scheduled for trial 619. She escaped with Mel and fled Gard afterward 623 624.

Still wanted in Gald, Kiriri later returned to investigate a city saturated with Lich aura, determined not to let another catastrophe like Lightless City occur. She confronted the Demon King during the incident, wounded him with her strongest light spell, and withdrew after suffering internal injuries 739 741.

Appearance

Kiriri is a petite, youthful-looking Gekket woman whose long-lived race makes her appearance misleading. She is commonly identified by her witch hat, purple hair, and characteristically expressionless “dead-fish” eyes 91 241 610.

  • Often carries a staff for casting and support 132 238.
  • Prefers white clothing despite Mel considering the color unsuitable for her 303.
  • Wears practical cold-weather clothing when exploring snowfields, including fur-lined garments and insulated boots 415.
  • Her small stature is notable enough for Hututu to joke that she could not possibly hide Mel behind herself 739.

Personality

Kiriri is blunt, sharp-tongued, and easily irritated by Mel’s endless questions, but she takes his education seriously. She criticizes his poor magical talent and lack of focus while continuing to guide his studies, lend him money, protect him, and search for him when he vanishes 91 139 192 249.

She is intensely curious about unexplained magical phenomena and pursues research even when it involves dangerous ruins, storms, curses, or inaccessible regions. Her work is methodical: she records scripts, memorizes magic arrays, studies recovered documents, and develops new formulas from incomplete sources 132 139 270 289.

Despite her fearsome reputation, Kiriri is protective of her disciples. She abandons an intended expedition into the Northern Snowfield because Liberia lacks combat ability, develops remote tracking imprints so Mel and Liberia will not be lost again, and avoids using her full power when it could endanger them 249 258 289.

Abilities & Skills

Archmage-Level Magic

Kiriri possesses overwhelming magical power and control, capable of treating Level 40 monsters as insignificant threats and overpowering dark-magic creatures without visible fatigue 132 137.

  • Defeated an Undead Knight at Level 40 shortly after entering the Sky Island labyrinth 132.
  • Destroyed a ghoul through sustained offensive magic while retaining ample reserves 137.
  • Fought several Hall of Fame-level combatants at once during her framing in the Imperial Palace 619.
  • Can use concentrated attacks powerful enough to intimidate slave merchants and high-ranking demons 193 258.
  • Her magic can be completely sealed by the Church’s anti-magic Holy Relic 619.

Magic Shield

Kiriri can create defensive barriers ranging from personal shields to enormous area-wide protections.

  • Enclosed an entire merchant caravan in a massive Magic Shield against Unicorn Wild Horses 240.
  • Used shields to block attacks during her escape attempt from the Imperial Palace 619.
  • Her shields could not withstand the Demon King’s overwhelming physical force 741.

Levitation and Flight Magic

Kiriri routinely uses levitation for mobility, transport, and exploration.

  • Floated herself and others through the Sky Island labyrinth 136.
  • Levited griffin cubs during travel 229.
  • Used flight magic to enter and leave dangerous areas, including the Lich-infected city in Gald 739.
  • Researched flight magic and considered using levitation to cross the Storm Sea’s barrier 252 438.

Light Elemental Magic: Heavenly Punishment Blade

Kiriri’s strongest documented spell is [Light Elemental Magic: Heavenly Punishment Blade].

  • Used only after survivors had been evacuated from the Lich-infected city 741.
  • Severely wounded the Demon King, forcing his retreat 741.
  • Did not defeat him; the Demon King is immune to ordinary magic and vastly superior in close combat 741.

Magic Perception and Analysis

Kiriri is highly skilled at sensing, identifying, and investigating magical phenomena.

  • Detected hidden magic flow left by a destroyed ghoul 137.
  • Investigated the abnormal magic-power currents sustaining the Storm Strait 242.

  • Recognized Liberia’s extraordinary magic reserves immediately 221.

Ancient Magic and Magic-Circle Research

Kiriri studies lost magical systems, ancient scripts, teleportation arrays, and ruins.

  • Repaired and activated an Ancient Magic circle using her blood, teleporting herself into the Sky Island labyrinth 132.
  • Copied unfamiliar square-script inscriptions from the labyrinth for later study 132 142.
  • Memorized a one-way teleportation array for future research 139.
  • Pursued Ancient Magic beyond the Storm Sea and accepted the Frost Dragon’s aid to reach the Carlos Empire ruins 415 438.

Curse and Magic-Imprint Research

Kiriri researches curse control in hopes of saving Mel and develops practical tracking magic.

  • Consulted Hututu about using multiple opposing curses to delay or counter fatal curse effects 257 258.
  • Analyzed cultist documents but could not recover a complete curse-control method 289.
  • Perfected a remote magic-imprinting formula for tracking different species over long distances 289 290.
  • Gifted remote magic-imprinting trackers to Mel and Liberia so they could locate one another 289.

Apothecary Knowledge

Kiriri owns an apothecary shop and teaches potion-making to her disciples.

  • Maintains an apothecary in Oak City, where Mel frequently studies 142.
