Background / History
Clear Sky Sect Prodigy
Tang Xiao is Tang Tian’s son, Tang Hao’s elder brother, and Tang Chen’s grandson. Both brothers awaken Clear Sky Hammers with Innate Full Soul Power, restoring the family’s prospects after Tang Tian’s talent falls short of Tang Chen’s standard 6 34 112.
While Tang Hao spends five years away, Tang Xiao continues training and reaches Level 72. After his brother returns, he proposes traveling together and helping Tang Hao obtain his sixth Soul Ring 24.
Ah Yin and Tang Hao’s Betrayal
The brothers meet Ah Yin in Sanghai City while she is threatened by the Fierce Tiger Gang. Tang Hao kills the gang’s leader, Zhao Hu, while Tang Xiao helps Ah Yin after she twists her ankle. Frightened by the violence, she seeks comfort in Tang Xiao’s arms 26.
The three travel as sworn “siblings,” with Tang Xiao as the eldest, Ah Yin second, and Tang Hao youngest. When both brothers acknowledge their love for Ah Yin, Tang Xiao proposes that they confess and accept her choice. She chooses him 27 477.
Tang Hao pretends to relinquish his pursuit and return to the sect. At a deserted fork in the road, he attacks Tang Xiao from behind with the Great Sumeru Hammer, shattering his spine. Ah Yin insists she loves Tang Xiao and will care for him, but Tang Hao seals her Soul Power and abducts her. Tang Xiao tries to follow by dragging himself across the ground 33.
Back at the sect, Tang Xiao tells his father what happened and asks the Clear Sky Sect to recover Ah Yin and seek justice 34.
Restoration and Defeat
Ah Yin eventually sacrifices herself to Tang Xiao rather than Tang Hao, frustrating Tang Hao’s plan to obtain her as his ninth Soul Ring. Her Sacrifice heals Tang Xiao and raises him to Level 91 91 239.
Tang Xiao challenges Tang Hao to a death match to avenge her suffering. During the battle, he exposes Tang Hao’s slaughter of more than half the sect’s disciples, including several elders. Both brothers use Ring Explosion, but Tang Hao’s Asura Domain gives him the advantage. Tang Xiao’s hammer breaks, and he is left unable to rise as Tang Tian intervenes against the finishing blow 91.
Expulsion from the Sect
Tang Lie and other sect members redirect their hatred of Tang Hao toward his relatives. Tang Xiao defends Tang Chen’s legacy and rejects the claim that an entire bloodline should answer for Tang Hao’s crimes 96 112 390.
After taking power, Tang Lie removes the family’s ancestral tablets, desecrates Tang Tian’s grave, and scatters Tang Jie’s and Tang Meng’s ashes. He expels both Tang Xiao and Tang Chen, beats Tang Xiao, and destroys his Martial Soul. Tang Xiao condemns the sect for attacking him instead of confronting Tang Hao or Spirit Hall 390.
The Alternate-Life Illusion
Ah Yin appears after Tang Xiao’s expulsion. Touching her draws him into an illusion of a different life: Tang Hao accepts her choice, Tang Xiao marries her, and they have a son named Tang San 390 391.
In this vision, Tang Xiao gains Divine Slaughter’s Domain, survives Spirit Hall’s pursuit through Ah Yin’s Sacrifice, and raises Tang San in Holy Spirit Village. Tang San eventually revives Ah Yin, attains Dual Godhood, and takes both parents to the Divine Realm, while Tang Hao dies of old age on the continent 391 392.
The illusion convinces Tang Xiao that Tang Hao knowingly stole not only Ah Yin, but also a future of divine power and immortality. These events are an illusion, not Tang Xiao’s actual cultivation history 392 393.
Rakshasa Trials and Revenge
When the illusion breaks, Tang Xiao encounters the Rakshasa God and offers to pay any price for revenge. Despite having only one working hand, he crawls across a rotten bridge toward the Rakshasa Demon Scythe. Divine power restores his body and Martial Soul while transforming his appearance 393.
His First Trial requires him to devour a Titled Douluo with the Clear Sky Hammer Martial Soul. He targets Tang Lie, kills him, and draws his soul into the hammer. His Second Trial then demands that he reach Level 95 within one year, with disqualification as the penalty for failure 394 395.
Tang Xiao rejects the sect elders’ pleas to turn back. He declares that powerlessness allowed others to control his life and embraces power as the means to control theirs 396.
City of Slaughter and Sea God Island
Tang Xiao’s Wrathful Legion conquers the City of Slaughter. Its fallen soldiers revive through the Rakshasa Domain, while slain defenders are converted into new Wrathful. Tang Xiao rejects the King of Slaughter’s surrender, kills him, and resurrects him as the obedient Slave of Slaughter 451.
After absorbing the city’s Sin and reaching Limit Douluo, Tang Xiao prepares an expedition against Sea God Island. He intends to defeat Spirit Hall, unite the continent, and create a world ruled by himself and Ah Yin, with everyone else reduced to Wrathful Servants 462.
On reaching Sea God Island, he confronts Bo Saixi. His Rakshasa Domain erodes her Sea God Domain even over the ocean, forcing her to draw on her remaining Divine Power 464 465.
Godhood and Qian Renxue’s Seal
After becoming a god, Tang Xiao rules Henu Paradise on the former Sea God Island. His workers strip its forests and mineral deposits to build warships, weapons, and an army one million strong for a continental invasion 504.
Qian Renxue intercepts him. His scythe attack fails, and her Chaos Angel Divine King power instantly clears his Rakshasa God Domain. To survive, he offers his legion’s help in hunting Tang San 505 506.
Qian Renxue accepts only under an Angel God Seal that lets her track and kill him if he betrays her. She requires his forces to remain hidden and harm no innocents, then destroys more than half his fleet with Angel Flames. Tang Xiao submits outwardly but privately plans revenge against her after dealing with Tang San 506.
Appearance
Rakshasa divine power substantially changes Tang Xiao’s body, giving him the gorilla-like appearance later reflected in his avatar and fleet insignia 393 465 504.
- Hair and face: Originally bristly hair becomes curly, and his lips grow thicker 393.
- Proportions: Shortened legs reduce his height; lengthened arms leave his hands hanging below his knees 393.
- Skin: Dark skin is visible during his Sea God Island invasion and after his ascension 464 504.
- Divine Mark: The Rakshasa Trial mark appears on his forehead 393 465.
- Godhood attire: Purple armor, a feathered crown, and yellow clay paint across his face 504.
Personality
Early Tang Xiao is attentive toward Ah Yin and willing to let her decide between the brothers. He comforts her rather than seeking praise for violence, and he initially accepts Tang Hao’s claim that he will step aside 26 27 33.
He remains protective of his family’s legacy even after Tang Hao’s crimes. He argues that Tang Chen’s achievements should not be erased and that guilt belongs to the perpetrator rather than every relative 112 390.
Repeated betrayal, disability, and humiliation turn his grief into an obsession with power. After accepting the Rakshasa God’s offer, he openly prefers becoming a “beast ruled by power” to remaining helpless. His later rule favors magically enforced obedience over voluntary loyalty, culminating in mass conversion into Wrathful Servants 396 451 462.
His devotion to Ah Yin also becomes possessive. He ultimately plans to kill Tang San, take Ah Yin for himself, and have children with her, despite her present lack of affection for him 390 506.
