I'd expended quite a bit today. Don't come disturb me.
Black Cat had already been protecting the siblings for four days.
It wasn't entirely out of gratitude. Honestly, the siblings hadn't done him any real favor.
He simply felt that following them... would let him wait by the stump for rabbits... for prey to deliver itself to his doorstep.
The siblings naturally noticed Black Cat following them. At first, the sister objected and wanted to drive him away—but after discovering that the black cat would go out to hunt for food on its own, she saw the genuine smile on her brother's face and silently accepted him.
The girl was named Wanda, and the boy was named Pietro.
Black Cat lazily narrowed his eyes. Over the past few days, he had also taken the chance to gather plenty of intelligence.
The force hunting them seemed to be called Hydra.
Hydra ranked highly among his targets for extermination. It seemed to be an extraordinary main-story faction, which stirred a faint interest in the siblings within Black Cat.
Yet no matter how hard he searched, he couldn't find any quests related to Wanda or Pietro. It was quite strange.
People whom a main-story faction was willing to expend such effort hunting couldn't possibly be minor characters, could they? Or would they gain other code names in the future?
Black Cat swished his tail, grumbling resentfully to himself.
Still, thinking about it carefully, if he hadn't cleared away their tracks and dealt with the enemy's people, the siblings might indeed have been captured and taken back already.
No... they definitely would have been.
Who knew how these siblings had escaped in the first place? They only knew how to run, with no awareness of counter-surveillance whatsoever.
No wonder they had been found so
