Fart God Tang San
After dinner at Si Si Jie's home, Xu Changqing returned to the Seventh Dorm. First, he dragged his exhausted body off for a hot bath. Only then did he return to bed and flop down like a dead pig, his eyelids fighting each other from sheer exhaustion.
However, when he saw that everyone in the dormitory, even the unreliable Xiao Wu, was diligently meditating and cultivating, his desire to grow stronger once again drove him to struggle into a seated position. Forming the Lotus Seal with his hands, he entered a state of deep meditation.
The path of cultivation was like rowing upstream. Xu Changqing had no intention of falling too far behind others. Effort might not necessarily bring rewards, but without effort, one would certainly never achieve much.
He meditated until late at night, when the Soul Power absorbed by both martial souls had reached saturation. Only then did Xu Changqing finally fall into a deep sleep.
In his dreams, he felt as though a little pig were nudging around beside him. But he had been far too tired that day and had no desire whatsoever to lift his eyelids for a look.
The next morning.
Xu Changqing felt as if a huge rock were pressing down on him, making it hard for him to breathe.
It was like he had sleep paralysis!
Something was wrong. He abruptly opened his eyes.
Then he saw something in front of him.
Hm?
Xu Changqing focused his gaze and froze. Whose damn foot was this, shoved right into his face? Its toes were practically sticking into his nostrils. How was he supposed to breathe properly?
Feeling more carefully, he realized someone seemed to be pressing down on him too. With a dark expression, Xu Changqing threw back the blanket and saw Xiao Wu sprawled across him with all four limbs spread out. Even a dog would shake its head at that sleeping posture.
How did you manage to fall asleep at one end of the bed and wake up at the other?
Even when they arrived at the cafeteria for breakfast, Xu Changqing's face remained dark the entire time. Xiao Wu followed behind him with a faint blush on her face, while Wang Sheng and the others snickered as they watched the show.
Then someone suddenly shouted clearly and loudly in the cafeteria, "I am Sha Bi!"
That shout was earth-shattering. The originally bustling Notting Academy cafeteria fell silent, and then every student in the hall turned to look in Xu Changqing's direction.
Don't get the wrong idea. Xu Changqing had not shouted it. He was staring blankly at Tang San, while Wang Sheng and the others beside him all collectively retreated several meters, afraid of being misunderstood.
In an instant, a vast circular no-man's-land opened up around Tang San.
He calmly stepped forward to get food as though he had not been the one shouting just now. The students who had been lined up ahead of him scattered with a whoosh, staring dumbly at this "warrior." No, perhaps he was mentally ill.
That shout successfully spared Tang San the trouble of waiting in line for food, and Xu Changqing and the other work-study students benefited from it as well.
Brilliant!
So this was possible too.
But, Little San!
Was there really no one in this world whom you cared about?
Ding!
The Servant System's host has completed one White Level Task. The host has received one reward: increase the designated Soul Ring's age by one year. The reward has been distributed to the system space.
"Hmm?"
Hearing the System notification in his mind, Xu Changqing temporarily set Tang San's bizarre behavior aside.
"So the White Level Task is finally complete? This Sub-system's host seems a little strange. He actually spent longer completing a low-level task than a high-level one."
"This reward..."
He looked at the white, yellow, and purple beads of different colors in his system space and roughly understood what rewards system tasks of each level would provide.
Other than the Red Level Task that had yet to appear, whether Red Level Tasks even existed remained unknown. After all, this was all Xu Changqing's speculation. He could not see what tasks the Sub-system issued to its host.
It was only a small interlude. Aside from being startled by Tang San's bizarre way of doing things, Xu Changqing did not think much else of it.
After breakfast came the morning theory class, which lasted around two hours. After that was free time. Xu Changqing did not idle away this period either. He went to Notting Academy's library and borrowed several books on martial souls and soul beasts to broaden his knowledge.
As for those system reward beads that could increase a Soul Ring's age, he had no intention of using them for now. He would save them for his Second Soul Ring. Perhaps he could directly create a thousand-year Soul Ring by then.
That would be safer too. At most, others would think he was extraordinarily gifted and capable of absorbing a Soul Ring over a thousand years old as his Second Soul Ring.
If he truly evolved his first hundred-year Soul Ring into a thousand-year one without any restraint, that would be utterly outrageous. Some people with ulterior motives might even take him away for research.
Xu Changqing would not do something so foolish and detrimental to himself.
Before his strength had grown sufficiently powerful, he had to hide certain abilities that were too outrageous.
That afternoon, he went to the Martial Soul Branch Hall to find Si Si Jie and began another day of spear training. Compared to yesterday's imitation without form or momentum, Xu Changqing's practice of the three basic forms was far more smooth and methodical today.
According to Si Si Jie, if he maintained this pace, he could begin learning other basic spear forms in about another week.
And so, several days passed in a flash.
Monday, 12:01 a.m.
Tang San had already finished meditating, yet he lay in bed tossing and turning, unable to sleep.
Ding!
The System has detected that the host has lazy tendencies. The Red-Grade Weekly Task has not been completed. A system punishment will now be issued.
Punishment for failing the Red Level Task: fart whenever you breathe, lasting one week.
Punishment begins immediately.
Tang San's face darkened. He felt that this damn System was targeting him!
What did it mean by lazy tendencies? Could absurd existences like Titled Douluo and hundred-thousand-year soul beasts be hunted by a trashy one-ring Soul Master like him?
Why didn't it hunt one for him, then?
However, the System would not listen to his excuses.
The moment Tang San exhaled, a loud fart echoed through the dormitory. He could not hold it back at all.
Fortunately, the blanket muffled part of the sound. Plus, it was late at night and everyone was sleeping deeply, so no one had noticed his embarrassment yet.
But before long, another loud pfft rang out, instantly jolting many people in the dormitory from deep sleep into light sleep.
The Seventh Dorm had dozens of beds, so it was fairly spacious. Xu Changqing's bed was not particularly close to Tang San's, and since he had trained hard during the day and was quite tired, he was not affected much.
But several students whose beds were closer to Tang San's were having a rough time, Wang Sheng included.
No one could go without breathing. Tang San could hold his breath, but his Soul Power was not high enough yet, so he could not hold it for long. Thus, every so often, a thunderous fart would resound.
No matter how unalert Wang Sheng and the others might have been, Tang San's farts had woken them up by now.
This was beyond ridiculous!
In the darkness, Wang Sheng and several other Seventh Dorm students exchanged looks for a moment before collectively turning toward Tang San's bed.
Every now and then, a powerful fart would burst forth from that direction.
What the hell!
Could no one get a proper night's sleep anymore?
Early the next morning, Wang Sheng and the others all had massive dark circles under their eyes. They had thought Tang San would stop after farting for a while, but they never expected him to keep it up for the entire night. Even now, there was no sign of it stopping.
Were you the reincarnation of the Fart God or something?
Change beds!
They had to change beds!
With a great commotion, the seven or eight people who had been blasted awake by farts the night before all grabbed their bedding and crowded into the corners of the dormitory. They nearly came to blows over the spots. Tang San had thoroughly disgusted them last night.
After farting all night, Tang San was not having a good time either. He had been unable to sleep at all.
And this was only in the dormitory, where there were few people.
If he went to the teaching building, wouldn't he die of social embarrassment on the spot?
It was even more outrageous than that embarrassing scene in the cafeteria the other day!
Yet he could not simply skip it. He still needed to learn knowledge about martial souls!
What should he do?
In the end, Tang San decided not to go to the teaching building that week. He would go find his teacher instead. Wasn't his teacher better at teaching than those academy instructors?
Surely his teacher would understand him, right?
That day, Wang Sheng and the others in the Seventh Dorm secretly bestowed Tang San with the title of Fart God.
When Xu Changqing woke up and learned about it, he was utterly dumbfounded. Tang San had farted all night?
Was that for real?
Could something so absurd actually happen?
