Background
Tang San arrives at Notting City with Village Chief Old Jack and is bound to the Supreme God King Cultivation System. He quickly recognizes that its harder combat tasks carry lighter penalties and intends to rely on Tang Sect techniques and hidden weapons to complete them. Seeking knowledge of the continent, he enrolls at Notting Junior Soul Master Academy. 2 3
At Notting Academy, Tang San violently repels a gatekeeper who insults Holy Soul Village and their work-study certificate. He later defeats Wang Sheng in a single exchange through the Mysterious Heaven Skill, but declines to fight Xiao Wu because he “doesn’t fight girls.” 3 6
He becomes Yu Xiaogang’s disciple and assists him after a Mandala Snake poisoning, using detoxification knowledge learned from Tang Hao. Tang San credits Yu Xiaogang’s instruction for his development, though his System rewards secretly accelerate his Soul Power growth. 16 40
By age twelve, Tang San has reached level 37 and agrees to enter the All-Continent Advanced Soul Master Elite Tournament, intending to use a championship to establish the Tang Sect in this world. He recruits or attempts to recruit Xu Changqing, Xiao Wu, and Ning Rongrong as prospective teammates for an academy that trains “monster-level” Soul Masters. 40 41
Appearance
As a young man, Tang San has an ordinary but proper appearance, with a lean, tall-looking build. He wears a fitted blue short jacket over a white undershirt and tight blue trousers. 40
- Short black hair. 40
- Blue clothing associated with his Blue Silver Grass martial soul. 40
- His Divine Cloth Battle Armor manifests as close-fitting green crystal armor formed from all seven Soul Bones. 87
Personality
Tang San is observant, calculating, and highly confident in his own ability. Soon after receiving the System, he analyzes the task-and-penalty pattern and judges that his Tang Sect arts should let him overcome most combat assignments. 3
His confidence often develops into arrogance. He considers most peers unworthy opponents, expects to win the Continental Soul Master Tournament, and looks down on teammates he considers weak. 40 139 He also bears grudges intensely, particularly toward Xu Changqing, Dai Mubai, Spirit Hall, and eventually Yu Xiaogang. 61 148 149
Repeated defeats, public humiliation, and abandonment in Spirit City leave him increasingly desperate and hostile. After Yu Xiaogang severs their master-disciple bond, Tang San resolves to remember every person who abandoned him and fantasizes about slaughtering their families if he survives. 149
Abilities & Skills
Blue Silver Grass
Tang San’s primary displayed martial soul is Blue Silver Grass. Its Soul Rings are initially three purple rings, later developing into a five-ring Purple–Black–Black–Black–Black configuration. 49 139
- Blue Silver Entanglement — Creates thick Blue Silver Grass to bind enemies. 51
- Parasite — Activates seeds previously left on an opponent’s body or clothing. 51
- Blue Silver Cage — Forms a cage from Blue Silver Grass; Tang San can also use it defensively around himself. 51
- Blue Silver Kill Array — Used against Xu Changqing during the tournament final. 145
- Blue Silver Grass-based skills become ineffective against Xu Changqing while Divine Cloth Battle Armor is active. 87
Haotian Hammer
Tang San possesses the Haotian Hammer as his second martial soul, making him a Twin Martial Soul user. He conceals it during much of the tournament to avoid exposing his Clear Sky Sect identity. 41 146
- Haotian Nine Secrets / Haotian Nine Perfections — Hammer techniques taught through Tang Hao’s harsh training. 116 146
- Haotian Defense — A defensive Soul Bone ability tied to the hammer; it reduces but cannot fully stop Xu Changqing’s Annihilation Divine Light. 146
- His lack of Soul Power and experience compared with Tang Hao limits the hammer’s effectiveness against stronger opponents. 146
Tang Sect Techniques
Tang San retains martial arts and weapon techniques from the Tang Sect.
- Mysterious Heaven Skill — Internal cultivation technique used to redirect Wang Sheng’s attack and throw him down effortlessly. 6
- Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track — Footwork technique used to evade Zhao Wuji’s attacks. 51
- Mystic Jade Hand — Hardens his hands like iron and is intended to help him withstand Haotian Hammer recoil. 146
- Batwing Reincarnation — Hidden-weapon throwing technique that sends blades along curved, difficult-to-avoid paths. 86
- One Thousand and One Nights — A final Tang Sect hidden-weapon attack used against Xu Changqing; it is stopped by Invincible Golden Body. 87
Soul Bones and Divine Cloth Battle Armor
Tang San possesses six green Soul Bones and the external Eight Spider Lances. When all seven manifest together, they form the Divine Cloth Battle Armor. 87
- The armor allows him to survive Xu Changqing’s powerful Divine Dragon strike without injury. 87
- Its duration is limited to ten seconds. 146
- While the armor is active, he cannot use Soul Bone Skills. 87
- His right-leg Soul Bone grants flight, while his left-leg Soul Bone permits movement across difficult terrain and vertical surfaces as if on level ground. 125
- Eight Spider Lances provide offense, defense, and poison; they can be damaged or broken by sufficiently overwhelming force. 125 146
Toilet God Inheritance
Tang San receives a divine inheritance after diligently completing an annual System mission requiring him to clean Shrek Academy’s public toilets for a month. 128
- The Toilet God selects him as an inheritor and offers a divine artifact upon completion of nine God Tests. 128
- His first God Test requires another half-month of toilet cleaning. 128
- He secretly continues these sanitation tasks throughout Spirit City despite Ghost Douluo’s surveillance. 141 142
- He eventually ascends as the Second-Level Toilet God. 199
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Zhuge Divine Crossbow — Tang Sect hidden weapon used against Xu Changqing. 86
- Throwing knives — Used with Batwing Reincarnation. 86
- Storage soul tool — Holds a large quantity of feces collected during his God Tests; he later uses it to threaten Spirit Hall. 149
- Divine Cloth Battle Armor — Soul Bone Set Skill formed from his six Soul Bones and Eight Spider Lances. 87
Relationships
- Tang Hao — Father; trains Tang San in Clear Sky Sect techniques, protects his escape from Spirit City, and is willing to sacrifice himself for him. 41 116 151
- Yu Xiaogang — Former teacher and master. Tang San respects him deeply and vows revenge after Xu Changqing’s group injures him, but their bond ends when Yu Xiaogang abandons Tang San in Spirit City. 40 61 149
- Xu Changqing — Long-standing rival and enemy. Tang San resents his rapid growth, repeatedly challenges him, and suffers several crushing defeats at his hands. 83 87 145 146
- Xiao Wu — Fellow Notting and Shrek student. Tang San initially refuses to fight her for dorm-boss status and later fights alongside her as part of Shrek. 7 49
- Ning Rongrong — Fellow student and proposed tournament teammate; she openly dislikes Tang San due to the odor caused by his System punishments. 41
- Dai Mubai — Rival and eventual enemy. Tang San defeats and cripples him, while Dai later retaliates by kicking Tang San while he is injured during the final. 54 58 146
- Toilet God — Divine patron who selects Tang San as an inheritor after observing his dedication to toilet-cleaning missions. 128
- Clear Sky Sect elders — Verify Tang San’s divine status and travel with him toward the South Sea Area. 188
