Background / History

Meng Hongchen is Jing Hongchen’s granddaughter and Xiao Hongchen’s younger sister. As members of the Hongchen family, the siblings receive exceptional access within Mingde Hall; she later joins Su Yu and Xiao Hongchen in the sole group personally supervised by Jing Hongchen. 61 274

She first meets Su Yu when Xiao Hongchen accuses him of being suspicious and potentially hostile. Meng immediately intervenes to prevent her brother from bullying a new junior, insisting that Su Yu appears to be a good person—primarily because she finds him handsome. 61

Her initial admiration develops into an open romantic relationship with Su Yu. By the time of their reunion at Shrek Academy, they greet one another affectionately and are described as deeply in love; Meng later identifies herself as Su Yu’s official girlfriend in a confrontation with Wang Dong’er. 312 329
