Background

Xiao Yan was cornered and severely wounded by Yun Shan of the Misty Cloud Sect, who demanded Yao Lao's soul body and the crippling of Xiao Yan's Dou Qi. He refused to submit even under threat to his family, declaring that Yun Shan would have to kill him before touching Xiao Zhan. Xiao Chen's sudden return saved him and ended the immediate crisis. 1

After returning to Wutan City, Xiao Chen healed Xiao Yan's injuries and later refined his Dou Qi, meridians, physique, and soul to correct weaknesses created by his rapid early cultivation. Xiao Yan endured the process and emerged with a substantially firmer foundation and heightened sensitivity to the Power of Space. 7 13
