Background / History

Lin Nai was mentally eighteen when he transmigrated after being run over by a steamroller wielded by “Host No. II,” another version of himself. The incident reduced him to a childlike body and left him undocumented in an unfamiliar world. He initially survived by staying in a hotel with money taken from local thugs. 1

While taking a shortcut through the rain, Lin Nai found the unconscious Kiana Kaslana in an alley. He brought her to his hotel, fed her ramen, and chose to help search for her missing father. Their temporary arrangement developed into a year of travel, during which they fought Honkai Beasts and became companions. 1 2 7 11

Lin Nai later rescued Bronya from captivity despite being shot while protecting her. His decision was driven by the belief that he should intervene when he has the power to prevent someone from suffering. Kiana supported his choice without hesitation. 16 17

At some point, the Thirteen Heroes carried out a plan devised by Lin Nai from their era: they used the Sea of Quantum and the energy fluctuations from his battle with Kevin to send his past self to the Previous Civilization. There, he remained for far longer than the years that passed in the Current Civilization, became connected to Fire Moth and Elysium, and eventually returned. 84 98 103 108

Appearance

Lin Nai began the story in a childlike body despite retaining the mind of an eighteen-year-old. His body and hair can change alongside his evolving powers. 1 98

Lin Nai is compassionate but blunt. He repeatedly places himself between danger and vulnerable people, from Kiana and Bronya to Seele and Mei, even when doing so places him in traps or escalates conflicts. He does not consider himself a detached strategist; when he can stop suffering, he prefers to act. 5 16 50 79

He is also mischievous, lazy, and fond of needling friends. He skips classes, tells deliberately repetitive stories, uses candy and gifts to amuse children, and regularly exploits his system or constructed items for pranks. 31 40 70 262

His morality is severe toward violent criminals. Lin Nai considers those who deliberately take up weapons against others responsible for the consequences, and he has killed kidnappers, traffickers, and hostile combatants without remorse. He nonetheless distinguishes them from ordinary civilians and refuses to abandon people threatened as bargaining chips. 12 51 79
