Background / History

Bronya was subjected to experiments that left her emotionally numb, though she had been capable of expressing emotions beforehand. She was then trained as the Silver Wolf in a camp that treated useful children as weapons rather than people; failure was understood to mean death. Her talent and rapid learning kept her useful, but left her with little attachment to life or any personal goal. 10 11 13

She first encounters Lin Nai while attempting to strangle him with wet stockings. Unable to understand why he survives, she is interrupted by armed operatives sent to kill her during a power struggle, specifically because she had been the commander’s most useful blade. Lin Nai gives her a choice to live and see the world, and she turns on the attackers rather than accept execution. 10 11

After joining Lin Nai and Kiana, Bronya travels with them as their third companion. Ordinary experiences—such as holding a pigeon in a town plaza—are unfamiliar to her, reflecting how little of the outside world she had seen. 12 13 14

A masked operative later abducts Bronya and uses bombs in a hotel to force her compliance. Lin Nai rescues her from the underground facility, breaks her handcuffs, and calls her a companion. When he is shot protecting her, Bronya begins openly showing fear and grief; she then retaliates against her captor with the same number of shots Lin Nai took. 15 17 18

Bronya eventually becomes Acting Alliance Leader of Anti-Entropy while Welt is absent. Facing radical opposition, she uses her Herrscher authority and Lin Nai’s uncompromising methods to secure control, though the resulting workload becomes overwhelming. She intends to eventually hand the role to Lin Nai or Seele so she can pursue game development. 96
