Surrounded by forces on land, sea, and air, the rich and poor were treated equally at this moment. No one could escape, and no one could get in.
Just as the CNN reporter had said, all the New York Citizens had become hostages.
Even trying to escape through the sewers was useless, because the Giant Crocodile Calamity Beast had long since destroyed all the sewers and subways leading out of New York. They had all become dead ends, and anyone who went in could very likely be poisoned to death by the gas that could not disperse in time.

Inside President Ellis's office, footage of the New York Citizens scrambling for food was playing. Before long, the situation at the scene began spiraling out of control. After a gunshot rang out, the scramble for food turned into robbery, and bloodshed erupted.
Ellis turned off the television, his expression grim.
